Beyoncé has been hit with a hefty $100 million lawsuit, after the singer reportedly bailed out on creating a "motion-sensing dance video" titled "Starpower: Beyoncé."

The summons, which was first obtained by New York Magazine, was filed yesterday (Apr. 26) by software developer Gate Five LLC against Beyoncé and her company, Beyoncé, Inc. Gate Five is holding the star, who is referred to as Ms. Carter, accountable for "a bad faith breach of contract so callous that, on what appeared to be a whim, she destroyed Gate Five's business and drove 70 people into unemployment, the week before Christmas."

According to the claim, Beyoncé "had already negotiated lavish compensation terms" with Gate Five to develop the "Starpower: Beyoncé" video game, but then suddenly "made an extortionate demand for entirely new compensation terms." When the deal subsequently fell through, the singer allegedly "drove away the financier (who found Ms. Carter too erratic to do business with) and then pulled out of the project, breaching the agreement.

Just $100 million? 70 people to lose their jobs just because some project backfires?

What the hell has happened to the gaming industry? Long gone are the days when someone like Andrew Braybrook could write classic games all by himself in his bedroom.

I don't get the video game thing. I prefer to play checkers. I used to have an Atari 2600 though. smile The last time I played a video game was when Moonwalker and Street Fighter was out in the early 90's. That was mainly because my cousin liked going to the arcade, not because I was interested in playing. I did like Moonwalker though. Now that I think about it, I did play Pac Man a couple of times a few years ago. lol

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Nah, I'm not interested in video games. I like traditional, simple things like reading a book or walking in the woods. Technology is not my friend. lol
