Its Been Almost A Year Since The Black Keys' "Brothers" Has Been Released....

I didn't think I would love this album, I certainly wasn't THAT impressed the few time I heard the damn thing at first. Gotta say though, this album looks like it will be one of my faves. Another thing, I rarely pay attention to details such as album configuration but the songs flow greatly together.

Any fans of this group?

I didn't LOVE it as much as their previous albums, but it still rocks. And the booklet is cool.

Solid album

personally, I respected these guys but I was not a fan. but this album blew me away, 4,5/5 stars.

rock is NOT dead

right now, my fav rock bands (post-1999) are the Black Keys, Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, Arcade Fire and the Arctic Monkeys...and even the White Stripes, before the break-up...

I was late to this one as well but I love everything about it. This is one of those albums that make you want to hear their early work. Two thumbs up for sure.

this album was the soundtrack of my summer last year.

i discovered them back in 01 (i think) when i saw them open for sleatter kinney. i had to leave the show 2 songs into sleatter kinney's set...they just couldn't follow these guys. but, before i left, i bought their first album, 'the big come up', from patrick carney (the drummer). he was working the merch booth after their set. we chatted for a while; we're from the same hometown.

but, anyway, i've been hooked since. rubber factory and magic potion are definitely my favorites.

check out blakroc and dan auerbach's solo album, as well. and definitely see them live. they're AWESOME live.

I actually have a few cuts from it nod and I agree, its good.

Can you guys recommend an album? I only have "Brothers" as a starting point.

Blakroc was one of the dopest albums in 09, it was one of those Projects that hiphop had not experienced in a while, heads up to Dame Dash for that one... my top 5 cuts were...

1-Coochie (feat Ol'Dirty Bastard & Ludacris)

2-Done did it (Feat Noe)

3-Hope your happy (Feat Q Tip)

4-On the Vista (Feat Mos Def)

5-Stay Off The Fuckin Flowers (Feat Raekwon)

i'd recommend them all...but 'magic potion' is my favorite, followed closely by 'rubber factory'. keep in mind, though, that these albums are performed as a duo. they don't have the full band sound of 'brothers'. dan auerbach's solo album 'keep it hid', with full band, is more in line with the sound of 'brothers' (and is an excellent album in it's own right).
