You may call me crazy but I've neva been crazy about her Rythem Nation and Control LPs. However, I dig her 1st 2 LPs(Janet Jackson & Dream Street) 4 the simple fact that Rene & Angela produced her.

Best LP? Thats soo easy-The Velvet Rope nod

It would be a blessing 2 the world if she made another LP like that again. Full of anger, soul, sex, edge and darkness.

LOL I know where you coming from, I too skip those cheesy ass moments but sometimes(I mean SOMETIMES) you could hear the Minneapolis sound somewhere in that LP.

hey VANITYSprisonBYTCH, it seems you don't really have any favourites from her latest 'all for you' album. and that's exactly how i'm feeling. normally, a release by janet was always highly anticipated and always gave you a couple of great singles with great accompanying videos. but for me, the only thing that drew some attention round janet's persona was her being crowned ICON. and in my case, the attention was for the wrong reasons; i don't think she deserved it. she deserves credit for a lot, but being given ICON status by MTV just shows that MTV isn't of any importance to me anymore..
don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
purple music does the same to my brain
i'm high, so high

Man... "Velvet Rope" was such a good album, it showed such promise of Janet's music finally growing up a bit. And then she ruined it all by trying to be Britney or something with the bubblegum pop of "All For You".

Doesn't she get that her audience have all grown up now... the people who bought Control in 1986 are an older group of peeps and she's wasting her time chasing the teeny bopper audience...

it felt like Her Jam&Lewis Pulled a Safe Puffy as to do a Overall Fresh Take.it felt like Puffy was behind the boards as to Jam&Lewis.

I agree, "That's the way love goes" #1 for me!!!

"Anytime, anyplace"
"Comeback back to me"
"Escapade"
"Nasty boys"
"Together again"
"Love will never do",
"Let's wait awhile"
"When I think of you"
"Pleasure Principle,
"If"

...Something somewhat in that order...these are my favorties, but I change a lot, and start remembering songs later on, and then like some now, that I didn't like before, and so on and so forth...

I like "You Need Me" -- song full of fury against her father. You can feel the anger.

As a child I missed a lot of love I never had
And daddy he was distant
Never there to hold my hand
Never bought the things he'd always promise to give me
Mother made up for him always watching over me
Days would go by and we would never see his face
In my mind I'd wonder "Does he have another place?"
If and when he'd come in he would always be upset
All the kids were scared his next syndrome would be a fret

Now that you are older and you begin to see
Family's important to be there if you need
Father never taught us these things mom said to me
Now the table's turned so tell me you need me

Daddy daddy dearest, what is it you want from me
I won't turn my back on you the way you did with me
Now you try to give and always faking not to cry
I'll give you what I can but I can't give what I don't have
Mother lends a shoulder, to cry on if you need
But are you there for mother when she needs your company?

Father never taught us the things mom said to me
Now the table's turned so tell me
You need me!!!

i have to say i really don't care for janet anymore. i used to be a superfan. (i even caught her sweaty towel on the janet. tour in 94). but her internet fans really turned me off to her. they mostly make Prince fans look sane. mostly. plus, i thought the All For You album was a step back. The Velvet Rope might have been full of pop psychology and phony 'depression' but it was a great, serious album. All For You just didn't measure up. i liked that it was fun, but the music, lyrics, and singing just weren't up to par for this one. add to that the fact that she's getting that spacey Jackson look in her eye, like she's either just had or really needs another painkiller. i think i can say that i'm no longer a fan.

of course, she'll put out a new album and i'll buy it and replace all of my sold janet CD's and she'll prove me a liar. but every time, the draw to her is weaker and weaker with me.

Thank god for All 4 You though...

edit-I will admit seeing her do I Just Want To live on that rocky horror sex-contraption made me dig her more and get the balls rolling again..I mean the ball rolling again

All 4 U doesn't have the same dark edge, passion, anger and soul like Velvet Rope have, I guess thats why it lost its sparkle right after I gave it few listens. However, it does have some cool moments somewhere.

As 4 the tour?? I respect her live but I just don't like the stage hype that she always put(lights-smoke-dancers-fire and all of that).
