McDonald & Labelle: On my own

For me, this is one of the most beautiful songs ever made. Patti gets a lot of credits for her voice and she's amazing, but for me it's Michael McDonald that makes this song. His voice is so sexy.

Today i played it again and it's really timeless. Loved as a kid and love it now.

I have to agree. Michael's voice definitely helped this song sell. Patti herself decided to make the song a duet. It was originally a Patti solo song but Patti didn't like her version so she called Michael to do it and he agreed. Scheduling conflicts kept Michael from recording the song with Patti so both he and Patti did their vocals phonetically (I think). They didn't perform the song together until they both appeared on "Soul Train" in 1986.

This song sounds so much better as a duet. I cant believe they performed this song together live? Soul Train doesnt count.
