Remember Karen Carpenter

On this day in 1983 the world lost Karen Carpenter.

This might be out of place on prince.org but I enjoy The Carpenters and I think their music has some hidden treasures.

i love the carpenters...

go on and laugh..but there was such clarity and control in karen's voice...it was definitely an instrument and put to excellent use..

they did some perfect pop music 'close to you' 'we've only just begun'..aside from that...certain songs like 'goodbye to love' & 'rainy days & mondays' convey a real sense of pain...

most of my life i thought they were boring & hokey, i'll admit...but over the last few years i've started to appreciate 'real' singers...and as singers go karen carpenter was great...

i have been meaning to break out my carpenters cds..so i guess i'll put one in the truck today...rest in peace karen..

wOw!! what a trip. this past saturday my friend's came over 4 dinner & they brought over a DVD of the Carpenters. Karen Carpenter had a Great voice. She also played drums. The Carpenters apparently lived close by my house. In fact there R some apartment buildings that R owned by the brother Carpenter. The apartments R called "Close To You" and "We Only Just Begun".

R.i.P.

PEACE N B WiLD!!

I always have been a fan of Karen Carpenter's. Her voice is one of the most beautiful and most distinctful in all of pop music. However, I wish she had better material to sing. I mean those songs from the 70's are ok...just fluff though. I always wanted her to sings songs with a bit more meat. Like something written by Joni, Carole King, or even James Taylor. Something a bit more folksy.

peace

I love Karen Carpenter! My favorite songs by The Carpenters are "(They Long To Be) Close To You" and "We've Only Just Begun".Their music might be considered cheesy by some, but I think it's beautiful. In fact,I'm gonna pull out their Greatest Hits CD right now...lol...

Voice of an angel!

Her songs make me happy and make me wanna cry at the same time. Such vulnerability...such innocence...'Yesterday Once More' always gets me crazy looks in traffic...as I sing my heart out everytime...unaware of my surrondings! LOL...'Superstar', 'Goodbye To Love','Rainy Days & Mondays' break my heart everytime!

Long live the beautiful spirit of Karen Carpenter and her music!
Every minute of last night is on my face today....
