Double ~ The Captain Of Her Heart You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Wow, this song caused a flashback moment. I use to hear it all the time on the radio with my dad back in the 80's. Always loved this song and had never seen the video. The one short hair blonde near the beginning of the video reminded me of Jill Jones in Purple Rain.

one of the many late eighties too cool for itself songs, they were fun to listen to but nobody bought their album. Add this with Johnny Hates Jazz " Shattered Dreams " , Bougourois Tag's " I don't Mind At all " and a song By Meet Danny Wilson whose title I can't remember and it's 87 all over. Classic!!! Classic!! Classic!
I used to hear this song on the radio ALL the time as a kid in the '80s, and I never knew who sang it, then I'd hear it like every 3-5 years or so, but they'd NEVER say who sang it. Then one day in 2000 or 2001,I asked a coworker about it and he told me who it was... I went home and downloaded it immediately! One of my favorite songs!
Classic!!! [Edited 3/3/11 17:33pm] Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

That name is vaguely familiar, but don't recall their songs. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I didn't know anybody remade this song. I've heard the original sampled in other songs though. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

^^The embed doesn't work, but I remember seeing their videos a few times at the time. But I don't remember their songs though, they weren't played on the radio where I lived. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

"Mary's Prayer"
I loved this song, 'Shattered Dreams" and a different song by Bourgeois Tagg. I had Double and Bourgeois Tagg's albums. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.
