Classic quiet storm song from Herb Alpert's 1987 Keep Your Eye On Me LP. Lisa Keith on lead, Janet singing the hooks

Yes a quiet storm record. I never knew the lead singer (Lisa Keith) was white. She sounded black to me dont know why I thought that way.

Yeah she was behind the scenes with a lot of RnB in the 80s and 90s. She co-wrote New Edition's "Crucial" and sang backup on other cuts from their Heart Break album, and worked with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis a lot, even on her own debut CD. She did background vocals on Janet's Rhythm Nation album, and co-wrote Nona Hendryx's "Why Should I Cry".

She also sang bg on Alexander O'Neal's "Hearsay" and Janet's "Control".

Thanks for the info I wasnt aware of her background. Her voice sounds very soulful that's why I thought she was black.

Musicslave

Yeah, Lisa Keith has put in alot of work throughout the years at Flyte Tyme. I first noticed her voice on Alex's song, "Criticize". Never heard much of her solo stuff though.

Love this song. I remember hearing it (album version) and thought it was ok..but I bought the "Diamonds / Making Love.." 45.. and teh 45 single version is different and features better music production..extra drums and handclaps...although it cuts out some adlibs..I still think it was better.
