In the four years I've been on YouTube I don't recall there was a video with the original audio. Yeah the video's still up but not this song so enjoy for now.

I got so used to hearing Teddy's version, I forgot this one exists.

I was always a fan of the original version long before I became a fan of the Teddy Riley remix.

The video did use the original version. I remember when the video debuted on NBC's Friday Night Videos.

Now there was some minor controversy about the two different videos for Welcome To The Real World, Jane's follow-up single. There was the 2nd edition video in black & white just like the video for I Don't Wanna Fall In Love. But there was also a rare 1st edition video that was in color and had a totally different concept. The 1st edition was use when Warner Bros Records intended to release Welcome To The Real World as the debut single. But the label change their mind and went with I Don't Wanna Fall In Love as the debut single instead. After that, Welcome To The Real World was release as the next single, but not before Warner Bros had Jane do an all-new replacement video for it.

^^^I think he means that the sound on the other videos is blocked on Youtube. Some people get around the Youtube sensors by speeding up or slowing down the music.

i agree with you about that... but the pettibone remix had actually been on youtube some time ago... i guess it's gone now.

i grew up in new york, so i was always a fan of the KISS mastermixes and stuff... there's nothing like that today, sadly. no one picked up the torch.

Even the pop stations played the TR mix. I think some people aren't even aware of the original version. There used to be a local station that only played remixes and extended versions, no matter how long it was.

I heard the original at the time it was out (and I like it too), it's just that it was hardly played on the radio. Everybody played Teddy's version. It was pretty common for the stations to play remixes then. I remember some people would buy someone's album and they'd be upset that the version on there wasn't the one on the radio. I never heard of the Shep Pettibone mix until now. I have the maxi single for this song and it only has TR remixes. I do like Shep's Hard Day mix from George Michael.

If you just recently heard Teddy's mix, then you probably aren't into NJS. My problem with the Shep mix is that it's too much like the original. I'd rather just hear that if I can't have the NJS remix.

New Jack is okay, but I can take it or leave it. The original verison of DWFIL was all over the radio in 1990, and even went to #2 on the Hot 100. When I heard Teddy's mix I kind of gave it the side eye.

I don't believe there was a video for the remix. In Virginia both versions were played: the original on pop radio and the remix on the R&B station. With Teddy living here, it makes perfect sense they'd play his version.

Yeah they played the remix too (on R&B stations) but I think I was switching stations at the time. So sometimes I'll be on KISS 102 (local NC R&B/hip-hop station) and then switched to what was pop radio at the time so I caught both versions too. And that video was intoxicating. I remembered being attracted to Jane at the time with the mohawk she was stying and the nose ring. People thought she was weird but I thought she looked cool.

I'm down south, and dance music was popular then. I don't know if it was popular up north, but there was a lot of Latin freestyle, Miami bass, and dance pop played on the pop radio. So I guess that's why the regular version didn't really fit. When it was played at all, it was mainly the R&B station that would play the regular version, and it was also played on the Casey Kasem countdown show on Sunday. Casey didn't play remixes, and his program wasn't local.

It's not border south. If you can drive a few miles from NC and VA and be in Mexico or the Gulf Of Mexico, then you can talk.
