Ricky Martin has been subjected to heavy criticism in his home nation of Puerto Rico over his decision to come out as gay last year.

Wanda Rolon, who is a preacher at the island's First Christian Church of La Senada Antigua, has described the popstar as "an ambassador for hell."

Rolon, who posted the rant on her Facebook page, has since denied she is homophobic.

Another religious leader on the island, Cardinal Luis Aponte Martinez of San Juan, has also criticized Martin and has asked him to stop promoting his homosexuality.

Martinez said: "I admire Ricky for the great artistic gifts the Lord has endowed him, but please, for the love of his children, for whom I imagine he wants the best, try to set an example to our youth of the great values we all share, besides sex."

Meanwhile, gay rights activists have in turn rebuked Martinez and Rolon's statements.

Well if he is an Ambassador For Hell, he will have lots of company amongst his homosexual peers in the music biz. Along with many others around the world who love gay companionship. Are his kids well taken care of ? Are they being fed? Do they have a roof over their heads? Are they getting an decent education? If yes..then Wanda Rolon needs to chill out and shut the fuck up. I highly doubt she is willing to adopt and take care of the millions of kids who were thrown away like trash by their selfish, drug addicted straight parents.

uuum... i love the constant assumption that all gay people sit around and have gay sex all day, when heterosexual people, for them it's just so easy to control their hormones. i'm waiting for the celebate gay people to step up.

robertlove	Really, what is wrong with some people? There is hunger and war all around the world, but they feel the need to cirticize somebody who is loving his childern and probably is giving them the best life there is....i really don't get it.
