It is called Rock Goddesses and female icons or something like that.

This must be the idea of someone on her staff, because I don't picture Oprah listening to Joan Jett (or Salt N Pepa for that matter). lol

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Looks like Miley Cyrus, Sheryl Crow, and Avril Lavigne showed up too. wink

Was a cool show. I missed Stevie Nicks, but all the other veterans looked and sounded fantastic.

It was a good show.I was very happy to see all four Sister Sledge sisters together again. In recent years, they have performed without Kathy,so it was nice to finally see a reunion.

Well it is the Oprah Winfrey show no way she was going to turn that down. I thought all the sisters looked good though.

While I appreciated the gesture, the show was a disappointment. Too much airtime was given to acts that followed the legends of rock. Seriously, Avril and Miley? Oprah really showed how lacking she is when it comes to non-black folk cultural perspective. To give Diana Ross a full show of her own yet to deny Stevie, Joan and Pat an hour just for the three is telling. Heck, even Stevie showed grace be declaring she waited a lifetime to dedicate Landslide to Harpo. A moment that was obviously lost on Oprah. And then to shoehorn Salt N Pepa and Sister Sledge like some affermative action afterthought and well, there's a producer within Harpo Productions who needs to take some meds. lol

If they were serious about their theme then they should have invited Tracy Chapman, Donna Summers or Tina Turner. Mehh, it was still a fun show.

^^^My mom watches Oprah and she also gave full individual episodes to Barbra Striesand, Rick Springfield, The Judds, & Celine Dion. She seemed to know a lot about Barbra's career, and even filmed her house and property.

You really think Oprah cared about anybody on that show? The whole thing was orchestrated by her producers. The same producers who invited Rick Springfield to be on her "one-hit-wonders" episode. An offer he rightfully declined. And Oprah's 60-minute Diana ass-kissing marathon had nothing to do with any black cultural perspective posessed by Ms. Winfrey. No.

Wrong again MickyDolenz.

What was wrong the 1st time? As far as Rick goes, I just went to Oprah's site and it says he was on an episode with William Shatner & Henry Winkler and also another episode with someone named Nate Burkus. I don't watch Oprah (or much TV at all). I just saw him on there one day when my mom was watching the show, maybe a couple years ago. He had returned to General Hospital briefly.

Hey now, Ms. Ross cultural footprint amongst us black folk is rightfully noted and celebrated by Harpo. It's just a shame that Oprah's praise for female achievements dont extende beyond her narrow perspective, IMHO. Oprah is pretty smart when it comes to self awareness. Hence her mentoring (uhh, ummm, co-opting) Lisa Ling. Sadly she hasn't found a music historical archivist to direct her to the right direction as Ling does within the social realm of things.

Oprah didn't give a full individual episode to Rick Springfield, as you stated. He was on a show that also featured William Shatner and Henry Winkler.

They could've had Ann and Nancy Wilson and Chrissie Hynde and kept the theme to the show.
