Obscure pop singer of the day: Clark Datchler

You all remember Johnny Hates Jazz? He is/was the lead singer. He did do a solo album that nobody bought. It sunk like a stone. Pretty decent weepy pop, the kinda stuff you all know rings my bell:

Even some obscure Johnny Hates Jazz with their second lead singer:

I remember Johnny Hates Jazz. I bought the LP back then. Later the CD and not long ago the remastered expanded version.

I knew before I clicked who Clark Datchler was. Had never heard anything from his solo output though.

Thanks smile

I own this album. Havn't got past the first few tracks yet, but it's just like Johnny hates jazz to me so far LOL. Most surprising is that MOR kingpin Humberto Gattica helped produced it.

eek Never? He frequently collaborates with David Foster, and has worked with everyone from Michael Jackson to Ricky Martin, so chances are you know his work. About Clark, I never knew he went solo, but "Shattered Dreams" from Johnny Hates Jazz is a classic.

Best known as an engineer and/or mixer from the 80's (usually for David Foster). Pretty sure he engineered "we are the world". Lovely sounding stuff (thought very dated).

And he produced Richard Marx's "endless summer nights", which perhaps not surprisenly sounds like Roxette's "it must of been love", which he remixed. The intro's are almost the same (the way the drums are mixed).

Surprising to see him on Clarks album.
