a-ha notch major chart success with "Live dvd/cd" so far

With the Package of "Ending on A High Note" just released in Norway,Germany, and a few other markets a-ha have already amassed alot of sales...for something many stay away from, LIVE albums which generally these days dont even get released, but of course this being the final a-ha tour it was a closing in their chapter and so far as expected the album and dvd and blu ray are scoring high marks for groundbreaking editing and visuals and sound engineering.

So far

In germany and norway the cd has hit NO.3

and made a debut of #21 in Poland where they havent charted in quite awhile

The dvd topped the german charts in sales, and also hit number 3 in sweden

the dvd cd and blu ray will all hit the UK on April 25th, no american release is yet planned.

thank you. I'd been wondering what a-ha had been up to in the last 5 minutes since your most recent round of spamming for them.

that was uncalled for. This is thread-worthy and I for one enjoy lastdecembers posts even though I'm not a massive a-ha fan.

I may have to check out this live CD. I remember hearing a live version of "minor earth major sky" before and I enjoyed it.

As a huge fan who missed the farewell tour, I would love a blu-ray disc of this concert!

on this tour "minor earth" was stripped down and put into the acoustic set, on previoous ones it was electric and featured amazing solo from Paul Savoy, but the acoustic is very interesting because its all 3 jamming on it. The Live cd itself is excellent and some reviewers have commented "is this really live" because they are so on point, and then they toned down the crowd noise which is great because i know its a show i dont need fans screaming, thats what the dvd is for. Also cut from the cd was the "talking" between tracks from the band which is saved for the dvd.

And as for the thread of course they are thread worthy, i mean a tour that went into 65 cities 23 countries and 7 continents, hmmm i dont recall anyone but mj doing that on a tour, and facts are facts they sold out venues in the US that AMERICAN artists topping charts couldnt sell out. And as far as relevance, i mean 25 years later to top a chart with a LIVE cd, who is doing that? And with the exception of U2 no 80's band is playing to audiences in more countries than a-ha did on this tour and previous ones, so they are beyond thread worthy.

Yeah def get the BluRay, im waiting on my orders from Record Runner, the UK release was orig Apr 12th then moved to the 25th, so what usually happens with those imports they have them the Friday or Saturday before, so im looking forward to that, even though the cd is all over the net already from the German release, some dvd footage showed up on YouTube but universal stripped off the audio.

The BluRay got rave reviews for its quality and editing and overall production, the only complaints really from fans has been that a-ha didnt put the "BANDSTAND" track on either cd or dvd, a song that was a live favorite and regarded as one of the best a-ha tracks. But aside from that the 15 minute tour documentary is cool, and much more planned for this year as far as compilation dvds and reissues are planned.

Well, the Norwegians were the first to the south pole, so they practically own the place.

Actually no that was 5 continents, they couldnt work in Australia and there were alot of comlaints about it from fans there, since there first world tour in 1986 started there, but a-ha Couldnt arrange proper travel for that great length and not to mention the expense it would have been to go there, people dont really get the fact, that even though they did 73 dates and sold out most of the shows, all in america, south america, most of uk,canada and europe and all in asia and norway, some shows especially in america where a-ha had to play smaller venues like in NYC, playing the NOKIA which sold out 3 nights in minutes for them, with tickets 40 bucks a pop and that venue holding about 2500, a-ha clearly lost money traveling to america to do the 7 dates they did, plus they gave away 2million dollars to 4 upcoming norwegian artists that they picked having the most promise to start their careers, each winner got 250,000 , so even though this tour was one of the Top 20 grossing tours of the year, and made a-ha alot of money, it was sacrificed in areas too.
