Ndeed!

Everybody who should be on there is there--all the Funk Mob: George, Bootsy, Bernie , Mike Hampton, Garry Shider, Fred and Maceo, Blackbyrd Mcknight, Jerome Brailey, etc...plus some of the last recordings of Eddie Hazel!

In addition, producer Bill Laswell invited guests like Herbie Hancock, Buckethead, Henry Threadgill, Umar Bin Hassan, Sly and Robbie, Joseph 'Zigaboo" Modeliste, Amina Claudette Meyers, and Nicky Skopelitis

I'm sure the Funkateers around here have probably covered this at some point, but anyway, here ya go....

From Wikipedia:

Funkcronomicon is a 1995 various artists collection of tracks produced by Bill Laswell under the name Axiom Funk, after Laswell's associated record label. It is a 2-CD set that was released by Island Records. Funkcronomicon features heavy participation from various members of Parliament-Funkadelic, to the degree that Funkcronomicon is widely considered to be a full fledged P-Funk album. The album features what may be Pedro Bell's last authentic artistic renderings, as well as P-Funk guitarist Eddie Hazel's last recordings before his death in 1992. The album comprises newly recorded tracks, as well as tracks that have been featured on other Bill Laswell productions. Produced and compiled at Greenpoint Studio in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York,Funkcronomicon contains songs that were recorded as early as Maceo Parker's For All the Kings Men period.[1] The album title is a play on Necronomicon, a fictional book.

Co sign w/ everything pali said. Copped this joint the day it came out.

"Mutant" has Parliament circa 77 all over it...and you can feel Eddie's pain on "Pray My Soul".

This CD has something for everyone on it...funk/metal/jazz/abstract/soul/gospel, etc.

Check out the Black Arc stuff too.

clapping nod I've purchased MOST of my Funk without hearing the first note. Though if you need a recommendation, I'd recommend this one HIGHLY!

HAHAHAHA...I just found out about it...god it's like a never ending journey of funk...its obsessive and everytime I think I found everything I need thousands more pop up and I can;t keep up. Pray My Soul is SUCH an amazing number. The album is full of goodies. I agreed with someone on that post...Maggot Brain is hard to listen to..its so emotional. Prince really needs to dig deep inside himself again to create stuff like that.
