Sister Sledge - Thinking of You ...
In tribute to Nile -- I think this was one of the best Edwards /Rodgers tracks--I love the way the Guitar and Bass lock up into that rhythm! and the congas, of course!

I love them but this is one of my least favourite tracks by them. My absolute favourite by them is this one:
and of course: Lost In Music Love Don't You Go Through No Changes On Me We Are Family Greatest Dancer Let's Go On Vacation American Girls All The Man I Need
etc etc | |

Beautiful beautiful women...inside and out...
What we need is old footage of these in concert...way back when, I remember them on stage serenading some guy...not in a dirty way...most arousing thing I ever saw in my life...anyone got it?
Femininity like this is so rare these days...gals kinda butch.

I was dreading somebody posting Weller's version... he butchered the song

nah, i liked his version. i liked his covers album even if many didn't. he did a lot of covers on b sides, a few beatles songs and plenty of classic soul and rnb tracks. i made a compilation dvd in the 90s of some of the best of them and still play it from time to time
weller is the same age as prince (at lest roughly), but he's never covered the wee man. it would be interesting to hear him do a number

He's never even mentioned Prince in interviews, the closest he got was giving props to Mavis's version of The Undertaker

I wonder if Chic would be more revered if they'd kept all those outside productions under the "CHIC" moniker?

Apparently, It became a big hit in the UK the mid 80's, and a number of people covered it including Maureen Walsh, and of course, Paul Weller's version, posted earlier...
Japanese vocalist Monday Michiru did a Latin Jazz version of the song...

Me, too. It's one of my favourite covers, as it brought out a side of the song that wasn't obvious in the original (which is, I think, what all the best covers do). Lyrically, it seemed to have more 'weight' to it, somehow, rather than just being a cute love song. And although musically it's not the tight, funky beast the Edwards/Rogers original is, I do like the way the acoustic guitar and the strings in Weller's version help give it a more reflective feel.
I prefer the recorded version of the song to the live outings I've seen it get, though.
