I adore this version of "Trouble Man". In fact, I just re-brought the 2-CD Live In Montreux 1980. Definitely my favorite live performance from Marv, hell it even trumps Live at the London Palladium from a musical standpoint. The band he had at the Montreux performance was smokin' hot! I'm about to take that DVD out and watch it. Thanks Timmy! Check me out and add me on:

Right.
Hell that was the greatest show I ever saw him do. HE PUT A 110% ENERGY STAMP ON IT! Everything from "Got to Give It Up" to "What's Going On", everything was ON POINT!!!

Yes it was. Marvin put on quite a remarkable show. So much energy and he put another spin to the classics. Check me out and add me on:

This dvd is still noted for one of my future purchases. Great archived show and filmed in excellent quality. I'm not sure if bass player Deon Estus (Brainstorm, Wham, etc) is performing in the backing band, but i think keyboard player William Bryant,III is doing his thang there on stage. William has done various session work after being in Marvin's band. He was also part of Maze during the recording and tour of their "Silky Soul" album, and maybe a little longer. I remember driving home early in the morning with friends from a Maze-gig when seeing the tour bus of Maze passing us by, and spotting William chillin' in his seat with a computer game lol.

No Deon joined in 1981. Frank Blair was the bass player on this one.

One of the highlights of the performance:
Marvin on the Rhodes and the band in ridin' the groove of "Inner City Blues". Spiritual as hell! Check me out and add me on:
