Evelyn "Champagne" King Fans Rejoice! Her sophomore album from 1979, "Music Box" will be remastered and reissued in CD format for the first time (in 32 years) by the awesome folks at Funktowngrooves.com this coming May! They are now accepting pre-orders. Though not the blockbuster that her debut, "Smooth Talk" was, "Music Box," certified Gold TOO, featured singles in the title cut, "Out There" and "Make Up Your Mind." On the Quiet Storm side, there's an amazing song entitled, "I Think My Heart Is Telling," which is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Additionally, the remaster will feature bonus tracks in the form of extended versions only previously available on wax until now. Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

They certainly ARE amazing, huh, Soul? I would LOVE to see them reissue ALL of her stuff on RCA like "Call on Me," "Face to Face" and "So Romantic" along with "A Long Time Coming." I think it's gonna happen myself. I'd also LOVE to see them put out Freda Payne's three Capitol albums from 77-79 too! It's always a guessing game, but when it finally happens, somethin' inside u goes "BING!" Peaceout, my brotha! xo:-D Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

Oops...I forgot 2 mention that the "Call on Me" album from 1980 was originally released as "Sweet Delight" and it featured some Rock/Disco stuff, but the reception to it wasn't very good and RCA pulled it, revised it and put it out a second time with the latter title. WEIRD, huh? It'd be TIGHT if either BBR or FTG released it on CD and included some of the shit that's most likely in the vaults that didn't make the final cut for "Call on Me." God, I love Evelyn! She's the original Queen of the Lower Register and MAN, can she get down on dem scales! Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

Wow,I didn't realize that 'Call On Me' was a revised album. It would be interesting to hear the original 'Sweet Delight' album.

Isn't that KRAYZEE? It'd be cool if those songs that were taken off THAT album were in the vaults and they put 'em on the "Call On Me" album if they ever release it on CD. I bet FTG would do it though. Them or BBR. I mean, SERIOUSLY...there IS and always HAS BEEN a demand for E.C.K. on CD. Pathetic how this has taken over 30 years to finally see the light! Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I DID and the remastering is pheNOMINAL! They sound AWESOME!!! I'm excited to hear what "Music Box" is gonna sound like in MAY! Can't WAIT for THAT ONE! With regard to "Call on Me," I'm thinking that the "Sweet Delight" album was recalled because of lack of direction. If you listen to "Bedroom Eyes" and "Universal Girl," the last two cuts on C.O.M., you'll see what I mean. They're virtual melody-less blunders and should have been cut from the re-release too. They suck. :-O Peace, my friend. xo Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

Evelyn wasn't happy with the direction of those albums. She was young and didn't have much creative control."The A&R department chose the songs.I had no say so",she said."It was like 'Sing this,it's going to be a hit' when all along I knew that it wasn't.I was young and went to clubs,so I knew what people wanted to hear."
