He Hit Me(It Felt Like A Kiss) - The Crystals

Lyrics aside, I think this song has one of the baddest eerie production ever.

And Carole King & Gerry Goffin were lyrical masterminds.

^ She sang on "He's a Rebel" when, I believe one of the singers of the Crystals was sick:

There's a great cover of this song by Courtney Love and Hole. That version is actually the first time I ever heard this song.

Yep. Just got inducted this year. I honestly think the Ronettes' induction opened the door for the female acts of Phil's label to finally be recognized. High time the Crystals got in, which doesn't shock me considering the way they handle things at the Hall of Fame committee.

Now that I can see, which is why you could imagine my surprise when I heard that Darlene was inducted. I'm not really that hip about Phil's music outside of his work with The Ronettes and Tina Turner, hell I didn't even know he worked on The Beatles' Let It Be until very recently.

You ever heard of the Crystals' "Da Doo Ron Ron"?

He produced that.

He also did a good number of productions for the Righteous Brothers ("You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" being the obvious number).

Man...Phil was ALL OVER THE PLACE in the early '60s. That guy just knew how to produce (of course he had help, Bert Berns basically had to teach him how to produce especially after Phil bombed on the Top Notes' "Twist & Shout", so he produced the song with the Isley Brothers to show him how it's done and Phil got motivated by that).

Listening to this boxet earlier today, it sure put the "wall of sound" phrase into perspective. I didn't know that SO many music I fell in love with was affiliated with him, and its really hard to believe how such beautiful sounds came from such a maniac.

There's a live album of Darlene Love which i've seen with a different album sleeve than in the ebay auction-link below.

On that other LP-version it's a photo of her in a red outfit.

DARLENE LOVE LIVE! LP* LI...TOR | eBay

Jean King and Fanita James and piano player Leon Russell in 1964. (Photo by Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images)

^ What a wonderful lady and impressive, moving thankyou-speech. Her energy glows and shines.

And the mighty Miss Tawatha Agee sangin' along on stage eek clapping bow

Also surprising to see Will Lee on the acoustic bass, and a cool co-appearance of Bruce cool

Wow interesting story about Darlene Love. When i recently saw her on the internet getting

inducted, i kept saying she looks familiar and as much as i have watched the Lethal Weapon

series i would have never guessed she was a singer and actress in the Lethat Weapon movies.

Don't laugh at my funk
