I think I've found my album of 2011 so far!

First off, I just want to thank the org for introducing this record and artist to me. Something happened this weekend as I was looking through one of threads and this artist and album came up and let me tell you all, this has to be the funkiest trip I've heard in years. Not saying that new stuff from artists like Prince himself hasn't put me in stitches from a funk standpoint, but this album is just too much.

This album is.... *drumrolls*

AMALIA - ART SLAVE (2011)

It's definitely one of those records that will take you back and even though I've just been introduced to this, I haven't stopped playing this since yesterday. Amalia is part Chaka, part Betty Davis and then some and this record sounds like a lost 80's funk/dance record that was put in the vaults and released now in the 21st century. Honestly, its like Feel For You/Destiny-era Chaka has been resurrected. Too many comparisons I know, but this is one impressive release with a production that is headbusting! This is MY THE album of the year so far! Funkateers jump on this, please. You won't regret this trust me.

Check me out and add me on:

I wish I could buy the CD, but it's only available on a digital download. I haven't stopped playing it. It's pretty addictive! I gotta check out other material from Tokyo Dawn Records. music

Love It, Love It, Love It.

This is some serious funky shit.

Early 80`s soul with a modern electro twist.

Awesome vocals 2.

I know, right?! I love songs that I like immediately after first hearing them. The instrumental portion at the beginning alone is beastly. It's so mid-late 80s. Thanks for the tip! biggrin

Let me piggyback on this for a moment, I'm in agreement with everyone so far with the retro sounds, fucking awesome. I'm game to new music, I'll check this for real. When the Org is at its best, you learn things all the time. thumbs up!
