The Strokes - Angles....Any Thoughts? This is my first Strokes album so I really don't have anything to compare it to but damn, I love Angles. This album is the bomb. I'm amazed at how catchy the songs are. The only thing I struggle with are the lyrics which I can bearly understand. My fave tracks are....
Macchu Picchu You're so right Taken for a fool Games
Anyone else digging this album??

GOOD album
better than Room On Fire and specially First Impressions on Earth...
I love the mix of 80s new wave with the old Strokes sound; they've finally embraced their electronic influences without any fear. I'm so glad they have left the pure alternative-rock sound behind.
The Strokes are BACK. Angles shows that, right now, the Strokes are better than the Arctic Monkeys or Franz Ferdinand, or even Arcade Fire...

I'm happy they've embraced the electronic sounds too without it I may not have checked this album out. Love it. Best album of the year so far for me but I know it's still early...

You might wanna give the Julian Casablancas album a listen if you haven't already, it's an underrated little gem of synth-pop melded w/The Strokes.
Initially Angles wasn't what I was hoping for, and I'm still not too fond of the Radiohead-like track but the rest has grown on me after a second listen.

I love The Strokes... I think Angles is a very good album, I've been listening to it a lot.
However, for me it's definitely the weakest of their 4 albums, but I think my tastes probably differ from most Strokes' fans. My favorite album of theirs is "First Impressions Of Earth." I think all of their albums are better than "Angles," but I'm diggin Angles too.
Undercover of Darkness Machu Picchu Taken For A Fool Life is Simple in the Moonlight
are my favorites.... My main criticism of the album is that it's so short and it has a couple of so-so songs... "Games" is my least favorite.
I agree with another poster that you should def. check out Julian Casablancas' solo album, it's really great. But check out the previous Strokes' albums first.

Haven't a had a chance to fully listen yet, only snippets. But I've been playing 'Is this it' A LOT lately, so I'm happy they have something new out. Also, 'Razorblade' is one of the best songs EVER. Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

Room On Fire is my favourite, I always though Is This It? was lopsided, w/the likes of Soma, Last Nite and Someday taking such precedence over the rest. Saying that, I haven't listened to it years.

I was wondering about his solo album. Does is have a similar vibe to Angles?? Can I also mention that I love how chic they are?! Love their style so much. Very hipster NY chic. Like they don't give a fuck but they really do.

@Dancerella... You are welcome... But I would actually recommend getting the first 3 Strokes albums first... They are actually more catchy than JC's solo album. JC's solo album is great but it actually takes most people repeated listening to "get it." The first 3 Strokes albums are all fantastic, way better than "Angles" imo.

its a good record, i like the change in direction greatly, havent really been into them like i was since the first record, but this one is top notch stuff "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
