In the Uk maybe. But he was not that big in the US. Here he's more of a one hit wonder with Goody Two Shoes. He is definitely not the first artist I think of when I think of the 80's. I think of Duran Duran, Culture Club, Depeche Mode and the Cure, not Adam.

I think he has some serious mental problems which he won't address. I read he is against therapists and taking medication. He should work on his issues instead of trying to push himself in the spotlight. I've read lots of stories from people that knew him that he's not the most pleasant person to be around.

His current look in that poster is very scary.

Well its hard to say what goes on in peoples minds, the calmest looking people may be the most dangerous, we all seem to think we can call what other people are thinking and feeling, just look at the hilarious Britney Spears thread on this forum where people are saying she looks like she is uniterested in what she is doing because of her dance moves, we tend to think we can call what is going on with others mainly because we want to feel comfortable with our own shit.

But with Adam who knows, i watched some recent YouTube footage and he is performing like he was back then, i cant call it, i mean he seemed alright in the 80's and 90's but who know he was struggling mentally the way he is/was, whatever. Despite his demons though Adam Ant and the Ants were a huge influence in the UK and owned the scene, there was alot of stuff going on there, with Bands coming through the UK to me it was a bigger movement than the 60's because it wasnt all ALIKE in the 60's after the Beatles came through, everyone was like them that came after, with the Uk and also the 80's it was more like lets be "different" that was the last decade that happend though.

Ironically though Adam still was able to push into The Top 40 in 1996 with "Wonderful" and had he been able to hold it together i think more would have come from that, but it was falling apart at that time. The new look is typical for Adam, edgy, kind of a combo of insane and mix with the old days...who knows what will happen, we sure dont.

I was thinking that, too, but I was a pretty big fan. Sometimes that makes you think an artist is bigger than they really were. I remember Kings of the Wild Frontier, Antmusic, Stand & Deliver, Friend or Foe, Desperate But Not Serious, Strip AND Goody Two Shoes all getting airplay on radio and early Mtv. Granted, I lived in LA then, so maybe I was listening to a different kind of radio. But I can say for sure that I listened to A LOT of Adam & the Ants in my early music buying life. To this day, still a really original sounding band/music/artist. Nothing else really sounded like Adam & The Ants.

Now, as far as this tour goes, didn't dude get all nutty and stuff? I don't mean to make light of the situation, but I thought he went a little crazy. I know he had some legal problems. He also did A LOT of acting over the years. Still, imo, he should have done this tour (and others) a long time ago.

Random fact - Andre Cymone produced Adam's "Manners & Physique" album.

Anyway I hope this tour does well and that he's moved past whatever issues he had.

Adam Ant Added to Hard Rock Calling Lineup

April 11, 2011

Adam Ant has been added to this year's Hard Rock Calling festival lineup.

The singer-songwriter will perform at London's Hyde Park on Sunday, June 26 with his current touring band, The Good, The Mad and The Lovely Posse.

Ant said: "I can't wait to get out on the road again, and to play in Hyde Park is a real honor for me. I have a great band, and I have the songs and I'm ready to rock 'n' roll."

Other acts added to the bill include Rumer, Train, Lighthouse Family, Mike + The Mechanics, ex-Starsailor frontman James Walsh and Barenaked Ladies.

He was pretty big as new wavs stars went but he only ever was able to play theaters here, never made the jump to the next level.

Nevertheless I wish him well & I'd think about seeing him again if it was convenient and inexpensive.
