Well, Dr. Drew basically did say she was ill. That she was on meds, and she probably needed to be on them for the rest of her life. So that's that. She is ill.

He said that mentally ill people deserve to work too, so I guess that sums it all up and if that's the case, I'll leave poor Brit alone.

I think she should stay just a studio artist- and focus on singing songs and making albums. She shouldn't perform anymore on stage. It only makes matters worse.

Her record label is greedy as hell, they don't have best interest at heart. She's their puppet

Na, I'm fine.

Although I can't say I was a big fan of her voice, but she was one talented dancer back then. I think it sad to see when people struggle with their craft.

You keep posting old videos having us all go down memory lane this is not 1998 anymore and A LOT has happened since then. lol I think if she wants to continue making music then just do that but the touring etc is too much .

That video with Madonna was from late 2003 though. So its not really 90s.

But yes times have changed!

Let me reword that, what I meant was age was definitely not a factor in this performance. She's not well I think mentally and she's been out of the whole performing thing for awhile.

But yeah media and public was definitely critiquing her performance from GMA and Jimmy Kimmell

disbelief sad

Its still very much reminiscent to that infamous MTV performance

[Edited 4/2/11 20:41pm]

^^This is one of the saddest performances I've every seen.sad At the very beginning she nearly falls over!eek I think her heels are too high for her to move well.confused And she just looks.. pathetic really..

Then all those celebrities out there watching in disbelief. Wow..

Doesn't she have a real medical condition? In other words... she can't function without meds, right? I think that's why some clinically depressed people quit taking their meds.. but then.. they go into a major depression without them.

I'm supposed to see Janet tonight. The pop scene is not my favorite, but... Janet has been around for a long time. I don't expect....a great music artist tonight like say a Bonnie Raitt or even Prince. I expect to see a pop performer maybe a little past her prime, but still it's Janet Jackson... so.. I was looking at some clips in her thread. I think the show will be entertaining.

I just hope Britney is still around 10 years from now... whether still performing or just hanging out.

I mean... in her most recent performances she doesn't look that bad. She looks like she has a little spark more so than in that MTV performance.

PS. One other thing about Britney--didn't she start-off as a child? Wasn't she like 16 or something when she had her first hit? I don't think she even graduated from high school?

I KNOW Madonna was much older when she started out. I remember reading about her that she was in the top of her class in high school, and she started out as a dance major or something like that at the the University of Michigan? I think she also apprenticed Alvin Ailey, right? Madonna is pretty intelligent from what I've read.

Janet was at least 18, right? Janet was also a very serious student as I recall reading. Didn't she want to be a lawyer--or go into business law or something like that? I think Janet is pretty intelligent, too, even though she's had her share of trouble.

I just think Britney... I have to agree with that Dr. Drew, I think her father(?) at least is trying to help her even though she might not want it. It's got to be a tough situation. But you know, I recall reading somewhere it's not unusual for mental illness to develop in young adulthood or later. shrug
