MASTERPIECES

Rocks

Toys in the Attic

Pump

VERY GOOD ALBUMS

Get Your Wings

Done With Mirrors

Permanent Vacation

GOOD ALBUMS

Get a Grip

Aerosmith

Draw the Line

Night in the Ruts

DECENT

Honkin' On Bobo

WEIRD

Rock In a Hard Place

CRAP

Nine Lives

Just Push Play

pretty much agree on all that, i might bump up Nine Lives to Decent.

+1 Just a few slight modifications

I'd put the self titled debut in the very good/masterpiece range.

I'd put Get A Grip & Permanent Vacation into Decent.

I'd put Just Push Play in the "You have now entered the 9th gate of Hell" bad....

I'd plug "Get a Grip" into the CRAP category. It was such a huge letdown after "Pump". The only track I cared for was "Eat the Rich".

And it drove me bonkers hearing the 3 power-ballads released as singles all in a row - - all 3 of them basically the same song, and all 3 of them overplayed to death. Craying / Crazy / Amazing. Torture!!!!!!!!! lol

Totally agree about Young Lust, FINE and What it Takes. But I would also add Voodoo Medicine Man to that list. I personally think that track is epic and one of their best tunes ever. It's just dirty.

The only song on the entire disc that doesn't work for me is Love in an Elevator. The "WHOAH YEAH" verse call and response thing is more of an emulation of Bon Jovi than GnR. I find it cheesy.

It's weird what some people hear from an album. Dated production? I think it's timeless straight up rock without any gimmicks at all. Anyway, I would most definitely put this album in league with their first four/five records.

Granted What it Takes is no Seasons of Wither, but what else is?

mia, home tonight and dream on smile but yes i agree that its def one of their best ballads

As far as their best work outside of the big three (toys, rocks, pump), i really like their debut and strange as it sounds night in the ruts. I love the cover of rememeber (walking in the sand) and songs like chiquita and mia. I am probably in the minority for liking night in the ruts quite alot but to each to their own i guess

Draw the line- i really dont like it. Maybe it'll grow on me, but i liked night in the ruts 10 times better.

Anyway for the op, here are some tracks you might like that are not on either rocks or toys

Train kept a rollin:

I can completely see your point on Draw the Line vs. Night in the Ruts. It's pretty much a coin flip. I probably side with Draw the LIne because I love- love- love I Wanna Know Why, Critical Mass and Kings and Queens.

Either way, I just don't think either of them match the first four albums.

That's pretty much how I feel about it too but didn't want to take it all the home. It's not Just Push Play bad, but I can't stand it.

Yeah i gotta agree on that, thats where i think PUMP is looked at as being the Evil album that caused that, and its not true at all, i wouldnt call it crap but i might drop it to decent, theres some big time filler and alot of ballads that took over that record. I really thought those 3 songs were the same song.

One of them on the album would have been great. Two would have been tolerable. Three is overkill!

It's not on my North American version so it doesn't count.hmph!

I think the biggest problem with Get A Grip is the length. Knock four songs off and get it to the 45-50 minute range and it automatically becomes a more listenable album.

But...you got me all soakin' wet!

I think "Get a Grip" is a noble attempt at (almost) funk but they don't quite pull it off. Maybe with a different arrangement it could work?

only half of Permanent Vacation, half of GaG and 9L & JPP should be considered as juvenile albums...

^^^ Yeah, okay--don't hold that against them or the BeeGees or Peter Frampton! lol Seemed like a good deal to Robert Stigwood at the time! Confession: I went to the theater to see it and I actually liked it! So--shoot me now! lol

but the album is redeemed by St.John & Hangman Jury; with those 2 songs, any sin is forgiven...
