nod Yeah that was sweet! Actually, I dig the entire flow of this album. They really brought the funk consistently on this album.

Yes i rank this album tops with Living the Luxury Brown. I can listen to every track from

beginning to end. 7 is everything that E-Life was missing.

Right! This album is just consistent, with no fillers. E-Life was alright, but it had some weak tracks and overbloated with simple ballads. Overall, their discography is strong. I don't think they've made a disappointing or bad album yet. biggrin

Livin The Luxury Brown is my favorite. 7 has climbed to number two but the more i

listen and enjoy it could climb into the top spot with Luxury Brown.

The bonus cuts including the live exclusives are ridiculous on this album, and I mean that in a good way. The Mint are back in full effect!

This is my rankings after listening to "7..."

1. From the Mint Factory

2. Livin' the Luxury Brown

3. Definition Of A Band

4. Life's Aquarium

5. 7...

6. E-Life

7. Meant to Be Mint

No. 1 & No. 2 won't change any time soon.

3-7 is where the problem begins..

Some days I have Life's Aquarium over Definition of a Band

They're all great albums by any means

I dig that part and how it segues into the next track I Want It.

"On to the new... On to the new... On to the new... I'm done f___in witchu"

After a week, that part still makes me chuckle whenever I hear it... I Want It didn't initally hit me real hard at first--it was kinda' weird...but, now that's one of the tracks I'm addicted to. Funny how that happens.

Mint is really clever... I notice on I Want It and 20 Years Later, they take what could be 1940's "Puttin' on The Ritz" or Broadway "Chorus Line" type music and use the modern synths to make it a sound all their own.

I agree that the whole album is strong and flows real well... there are a few tracks that I have to listen to a couple of times before moving to the next track. lol

I don't know how I'd rank it yet.... certainly near the top, though.

The MC Community Forum just had that they debuted at number 12 on the R&B charts and number 33 on the Billboard 100.

I haven't seen that verified anywhere else, though. Daily Hits Double projected that they were on track to sell between 12,000 to 15,000 copies....

Not bad numbers at all for an Indie band.... but, what frustrates me is that the band has 84,000+ fans on their Facebook page.... if even half those people would have bought the record, Mint would have ended up in the top ten...

I just don't totally see the logic in "Liking" an artist on FB, following them on Twitter, but not buying their release when it comes out.... not trying to judge anybody, though. Just wish the band had more REAL support and not the VIRTUAL kind.

Well, in this era of illegal music downloading, many "fans" are not paying for their music. I think Mint's music is worth its weight in gold but unfortunately, many don't value real music anymore.

Ouch!

Those are low numbers for a heavily hyped release. I, too, theorized that "supporters" of the band obtained their copies through illegal downloads, which I strongly believe hurts the industry.

Last week Ricky Kinchen thanked the fans for support but asked fans to refrain from

posting full downloads of songs from the 7 album on their FB page.

The numbers for 7... are pretty impressive for a independent release and indie band, but it is still pretty disappointing that they aren't making huge splashes on the charts. They really did go all out to this promote this album, not to mention their central role on a new TV One special as a late night band. I have a Facebook profile and I am part of their fan page as well. The numbers and chartings just don't add up. I made sure I brought this from both Best Buy and my local wrecka stow (ended up buying two copies). But, we just aren't gonna be able to stop these internet bootleggers right now. They can go out and buy a young buck's album without a problem, but it is always the ones with longevity and talent that go overlooked.

For me, it took several listens to sink in and now I absolutely love it! That's true for many of my favorite records.

I agree that Livin' The Luxury Brown was very "immediate".

Those are disappointing sales numbers. I am just greatful that they continue to put out quality music and tour.

They are just one of those hard working bands that really seems in it for the love of music.

E-Life was totally underrated in my opinion, it had one of the best R&B cuts of the last decade (Nothing Left to say) which did pretty well on the charts, I copped the album 2 days ago but still havent givin it a spin, its getting generic reviews nothing special, but im sure for any Mint condition fan for over a deacde the album will be dope, I still bump the collection and live albums to this day
