My Top IPod artists. Haven't done this in a couple of years.
IPod has grown from 9510 tracks to 11,921.
I find it interesting to compare the lists as well as noting that after Prince, no one holds my interest to nearly the same degree. I do have Ice Cube's catalog. That's also a different interest to go with the music. Thought I had more Depeche Mode. Lots of one album artists, apparently it's not easy to get to catalog collector status with me. The Top Ten artists account for approximately 25% of my collection.
Thoughts? Comments?

Very cool list, but how did Craig David find himself in this mix? I found myself singing, "one of these things doesn't belong here" (from Sesame Street). [Edited 4/30/11 20:23pm] |

very cool, thanks for sharing
Prince is the only artist that has over a 100 (different) songs on my itunes. I am still discovering alot of music but i have yet to find any artist where i can honestly say that i like over a 100 of their songs. Plus i have a seperate folder of his albums, bootlegs etc
After P, its Aerosmith and MJ with the most songs. Plus I am a casual fan of some hardrock acts like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and AC/DC, all of whom have some songs on my itunes/ipod. Still i'll keep trying to discover new music and see if any other artist has over a 100 songs that i like. |

For a couple of years I was really into him, and then everything started sounding the same. I cooled, but nice when he pops up. I could reduce him to an extended hits/faves set now probably but doubt I will. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think. |

The artists with over 100 I don't necessarily like all their music but I collect their albums, so in the interest of leaving them as a collection I keep them intact even when I don't like all the songs.
Marvin Gaye specifically has a whole selection of songs done in a style I can't stand. He's trying to be someone he's not (Frank Sinatra) and I don't like it. George Michael, Michael Jackson and Madonna, if I have it I like it. Not keeping songs of theirs that I don't like. " Thriller" only stays intact because of its historical significance. Otherwise, 'Baby Be Mine' and 'P.Y.T.,' would be gone. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think. |

It is indeed interesting that someone could listen to one artist so overwhlemingly more than any other. I have my favorites of course, but I like to have variety in terms of artist selection on my iPod. My top eight:
Tori Amos - 336 tracks
Siouxsie And The Banshees - 304
Saint Etienne - 258
Prince - 255
The Beatles - 253
Go Home Productions - 228
Dusty Springfield - 223
Goldfrapp - 192
