Klique ~ Stop Doggin' Me Around You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Jackie Wilson's > Klique's.
Mike did a cover of it too and I liked it but Jackie's version all the way.

LOVE this joint! It hit #1 R&B when it presented in what? 1983? 84? I'm gettin' old. Da mem'ry don't serve me like it used 2! Then they did another Wilson cover on the following album called "A Woman, A Lover, A Friend," which used the same sound and formula, but that one didn't do as well as this one did. Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

You can only do covers but so long. GQ learned that the hard way too when they did another Billy Stewart song ("Sitting in the Park") and it wasn't as big of a hit as their cover of Billy's "I Do Love You".

I don't think Rod "American Songbook" Stewart and Michael "Motown" McDonald recieved that memo. I think I meant in terms of singles.
Sometimes the formula works and sometimes it doesn't.
