About the children's faces being covered...

There is no need to cover the children's faces, true enough. Especially "Blanket's"...that baby is beautiful! For some reason, MJ feels that there is a plot to kidnap his children...paranoia, sure. But after seeing the way he reacted to his own frenzied fan base, I can't see his reasoning behind it. I feel a lot of empathy for him, but the children are definitely going to be damaged by what they are going through...

I'll tell you... my affection for Michael had steadily slowed to a stop since THRILLER, but after last night, I totally feel a new zeal in supporting him.

MJ's wierd as all hell, and clearly lying on certain issues, but who the fuck has the right to gain insight into and critique his personal life? Why is it so important that the world actually hear him say he's had more than two plastic surgeries or that he has very unique, personal views about sex or raising his own children?

Bashir totally compromised his credibility and professionalism by 1) becoming a "character" of the piece (i.e. filming himself driving and pondering Michael's strangeness alone on some park bench as if he were some truth-defending fucking superhero) and 2) framing the whole thing as some sort of shady psychological observation. What a total fucking arrogant prick!

I hope that asshole doesn't plan on anymore celebrity interviews, because if I were rich and famous, I'd invite him into my home ONLY to feed him to my pride of rabid lions. He did a disservice not only to another vulnerable and clearly ill human being, but to journalism and the general future hope of getting familiar with those most enigmatic and reclusive people whom we love.

I think we should bomb the UK now instead of Iraq!

I AGREE COMPLETELY! HIS NARRATION IN PARTICULAR WAS EXTREMELY BIASED. THE FIRST RULE OF JOURNALISM IS TO PRESENT THINGS AS UNBIASED AS POSSIBLE AND THIS MAN BROKE THAT RULE OVER AND OVER AGAIN THROUGHOUT THE DOCUMENTARY. WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THIS WAS HIS INTENTION FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. I BELIEVE HE IS USING MICHAEL AS A WAY TO GET ATTENTION FOR HIMSELF.

My daughter and I watched the interview 2gether, and we both agreed that the interviewer was one-sided with a mission 2 destroy...

What a scumbag.

In the PrimeTime Live special that aired directly afterward, he was even more annoying.

I came away from the special, with more malice towards the interviewer than 4 Michael.

i agree with you about journalism. however, a distinction has to be made here. this wasn't a piece of journalism. it was a documentary film. having taken courses in both journalism and documentary film, it may be a fine point to argue for most people, but journalism and doc. film do not have the same goals and/or ethics.

Interesting but at the same time, 20/20 IS a news show so I guess I would say that they should be more careful about what they air.

The guy followed Michael Jackson around for EIGHT MONTHS! I am sure he has a ton of footage. And yet he chose to focus on the most sensational stuff. I am not saying Michael isn't werid but there are reason's this man made the documentary the way he did -- to get attention. Michael is an artist and a musician and NOT ONCE did they show him rehearsing, writing music, etc. I wonder why that is???

DIDNT ANYONE NOTICE MJ'S blatant LIE!!!

Early when he was asked about "blanket's"
"mother" MJ said they had a "relationship".

At the end he said she was only a surrogate and never met her!!!

Anytime 2 people interact they are having a relationship on some kind of level, there are plenty of different kinds of "Relationships"

Let's say early 2005 there will be the same kind of interview with mj, another controversy (he will admit to have only sex in the disguise of Winnie the Pooh and to be the father of 1245 children (all blond boys), after the broadcast he will say "I've been betrayed, it's my private life, look at my chidhood blah blah" Liz Taylor will declare: "MJackson is normal!", MJ squad will write the same sentences against journalists, the media, the "haters", it's papa joe's fault...this will boost his records sales...
and the circus will go on

One thing I did find funny, though: He tried to tell the whole world that Prince I's mom was black! I almost pissed my pants in laughter.

I knew the orgers wouldn't let me down! I was sooo glad to see that people saw that Bashir for the bastard that he is. He completely went out of his way to vilify Jackson. I'm also happy to see that people saw the interview and empathized with Jackson's plight.

I was a fan of Jackson's for a short while as a pre-teen and then grew out of it like all young folks. (Plus, Prince came on the scene, so hey...! LOL!) It saddens me to see what he's become and all that he's been through.

I do think that he has some DEEP seated issues and needs help. I wonder what his family is thinking today?

You're absolutely right about Bashir. He violated one of the most basic rules of journalism by making himself a character in the "Michael Jackson Story."

Bashir filmed himself driving to the interview? Why? What kind of broadcast journalist wastes precious air time filming himself driving to an interview? Bashir also filmed himself sitting on a bench under overcast skies in Miami.

Then, during the one-on-one interviews, the camera spent almost as much time on Bashir as on MJ. I don't think Bashir is much of a journalist at all. He seems more like a commentator. Bashir's ego kept intruding into the documentary.

I will always Dig MJ as a Artist&I think He held up really well depsite the Sorry Interviewer He was dealt with.He has Issues like Us all but aside from a few things the Interview went very well for MJ.He owes nobody any answers for How he chooses to Look or Be&what He does Period.I think The Guy is Strong considering all the Hate from within he dealt with as a Kid&especially in that Atmosphere MJ is a Real Trooper.
