rent or concert? QUESTION: if your favourite artist in the whole entire world were coming to your town- and this was the ONLY opportunity you'd be able to see them because they DON'T perform at all... PLUS the performance is not going to be recorded in any way (and worst-case scenerio- they kick anyone out they see trying to film it themselves)-
would you see them even if your rent was coming up on the same day the concert was to go on sale (with expectations of it selling out IMMEDIATELY), and the tickets were half the price of your rent?

I'm going to pay my rent before I do anything. Andy is a four letter word.

If you go to the concert, you'll still be paying rent. The performer's rent that is, or their jewelry, car, etc. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

But the thing is: You don't KNOW that it would be your ONLY opportunity. Although, of course, anything could be our last opportunity for anything. That being said; in situations like this, I ask myself... "Would [INSERT ARTIST HERE] jeopardize the roof over their head for the opportunity to see ME?", lol.
You're grown, and will do what you will do. But I would pay my rent, lol.

Rent always come first. What's the point of putting more money in their pockets while I'm living out in the street? I may skip on some things to try and save money, but that's it. I would never sacrifice my rent for any other living human being, no matter how much I may like them.

Exactly. Unless this artist is handing out rent checks, I would not be at that concert.

I missed the Prince show in Greensboro last night because I need brakes and rotors for my car. Prince wasnt gonna come and peel my dumb ass from the side of a tree. Its best that I got brakes. Its best that one pays ones rent. This is what you want...This is what you get.

If I was older and more mature (which I am) I'd pay rent.
As it is though, if that concert was Stevie Wonder or Michael Jackson or Prince...I'm young and stupid...I'll go homeless for THAT!
I'll borrow to pay rent and pay it back. Simple.. [Edited 3/27/11 18:18pm]
