Current traditional R&B

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

daptone and them, they have been doing this for so long... it's nice to see them get some light. other than that, (mostly) europeans have copped the sound. they have studied it more than people in the states, who are encouraged to follow trends.

Everything to a TEE, not just traditional!

This Dogg Master cat, he should easily be the sole heir of Roger Troutman's legacy right now.

Yes, it is. Does it remind you of Sly Stone's "If You Want Me to Stay?"

Thanks to everyone for sharing these artists. I hadn't heard of most of them.

Bellanoche, "Funky Goldman" reminded me of Jimmy Sommers - "What Am I Gonna Do" initially. But I guess Jimmy could've "borrowed" from Sly too biggrin

You won't hear these on R&B stations in the USA, not even the "adult urban" ones. Their idea of R&B is Jaheim, which is the same old Luther Vandross/Anita Baker buppie slow tempo or "smooth jazz" music, just with thug lyrics. lol
