RE: Is Earth Wind & Fire worth seeing on tour these days?

I just heard that tickets for Earth Wind & Fire are on sale now in my city for a concert in June. I'm considering buying tickets but is it worth seeing them in concert these days? They are one of my all time favorite groups but I read on here that Maurice White no longer tours with them due to health problems. If so, is it worth going to see them? I'd like to hear from some of you all who might have been to see the concerts in recent years. I don't want to be disappointed. Although, I recently went to see Morris Day and the Time and I thoroughly enjoyed the concert (although it was too short). What do you think? All opinions and experiences welcome! biggrin

Maurice last toured with the group around 1994, but he still participates in the recordings. I think he has Parkinson's.

Saw them in 2001. Bring ear plugs. Excruciatingly loud volume may cause hearing loss. I kid you not.

I saw them about 10 years ago when they were on tour with Rufus & Chaka. EW&F never disappoint as a live act. However, they just don't have the same magic without Maurice.

I agree. The last time I saw them was in 2005 when they toured with Chicago. It was a good show but to be honest,I would rather they release some old concert footage from the 70s/early 80s when Maurice still toured with them. That would thrill me much more than seeing them live these days.

Me and my wife went to see them about 2 or 3 years ago, and the show was awesome! Young and old, all races, every demographic was there; and it was a big party, there was a lot of dancing. But I thought the show was too short, it was about an hour and twenty minutes, I wanted more!!! lol

But it was so worth going! Get the tickets, you won't be disappointed. I also thought Phillip Bailey still had it, he's done a good job of 'preserving' his voice over the years.

Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!
