I think there's more to the story of the whole hotel incident. I've read different accouts of what happened but I'm still unsure about it. I wonder why the cops didn't do any further investigation on it.

Allen Klein & Sam's family wanted to do an autopsy and investigation, but were talked out of it by Barbara Cooke. As far as the police goes, back then they were most likely not concerned by a "Negro singer" who had been shot. This was still in the "whites only" and Bull Connor era. It was also rumored Sam's death was a mob hit, and it's known for the mafia to pay the police off.

Yes it's always been a fact that there was more to Sam's murder than remains to be seen, however, sadly this will be one of those cases where we will never know.

Beside Sam Cooke, I thought Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Marley, MJ, and more celebrity deaths were suspicious.

I always believed Sam was killed.

I think Sam was ready to divorce Barbara around the time he was killed. Then again I doubt she had anything to do with it though.

Sam's brothers later whup Bobby's ass in what I read online that Bobby wrote in his book. He said the real reason he wore glasses more often was because his eyes were almost closed shut from their hits.

To this day Bobby's requested to NOT talk about the aftermath of his death (unless you got his book). I don't get it because Sam was trying to make Bobby a star. Bobby hadn't gotten over Sam telling him to let the Rolling Stones cover "It's All Over Now" but he got his first royalty check around the month Sam died I think.

Sugar Ray Robinson also didn't wanna do business with the Mob. A Mob boss tried to get him to sign a contract where their fighter would retain his title against him and Sugar Ray refused. For some reason they left Sugar Ray alone.

Sugar Ray Robinson also didn't wanna do business with the Mob. A Mob boss tried to get him to sign a contract where their fighter would retain his title against him and Sugar Ray refused. For some reason they left Sugar Ray alone.

The Rat Pack, especially Sinatra, didn't really try to hide mob connections. They were going to kill or beat up Sammy Davis Jr once because he took out an advance or loan with them, and spent the money before he could work it off or pay it back or something. Frank talked them out of it. I think Frank paid the money back, but not sure about that. You couldn't work in clubs in Vegas and New York without going through the mob.

Yea, his body was slumped over against the hotel office door and his right thigh was under his chest. That doesn't add up to the hotel manager's story and it seems like Sam was the one under attack not the manager. By the way, the lady Sam went to the hotel with is a well known prostitute and from what I've read they both have dated before. I'm not surprised the mob wanted Sam dead. He was making more money than most of the white acts out at the time. Owned all of his publishing rights and had his own label.

I wonder how the classic artists had to deal with the mob especially when it came to Vegas, California and NY.

I believe he was murdered. I don't think his wife was involved tho. I heard that then whites-only lable heads didn't like the fact that Sam Cooke was doing real good on his own lable. Some mobs even threatened him to sell his lable but he didn't so...
