Sorry I took so long to reply, been studying for midterms. The new album is really good. Im lovin "Cinnamon" right now.

I haven't heard the new album yet but I did recently re-listen to the first five and they still hold up really well. Tiny Music and No. 4 are probably my favourites.

Any love for the Talk Show album?

Tiny Music is my fave STP album. I think the Talk Show album was very good. The Deleo brothers are very underrated.

I LOVE STP! They have a lot of great songs. And Weiland, in spite of his addictions, is a very intriguing and sexy frontman.

Easily the best band to come out of the grunge movement

I like them but I see them as more of a singles band. I don't think they ever put together a great album all the way through, with Tiny Music perhaps the exception. But they do have some great 90s rock songs.

I can see your point, I don't think one album can be singled out as their masterpiece, but they do have plenty of great album tracks.

I loved the last album. Short, snappy 3min 30sec 70s pop/rock with ridiculous titles, witty lyrics and killer riffs

I also thought Shangri-La De Da was very underrated.

I was very disappointed with Shangri-La Dee Da when it was initially released. I've warmed to it quite a bit but for me it is clearly inferior to the four albums that preceded it. I can't quite put my finger on it but there is something about the songs that feels a bit off. I like "Days of the Week" and a couple of other songs but there was nothing on the album that grabbed me the way there was on the previous albums.

MattyJam, you are killing me! No.4 is tied with Tiny Music as my favourite STP album. I dig those two albums pretty much start to finish. Expectations might have something to do with my love of No. 4. At the time it was released most of the big "alternative" bands had either split up or were releasing mediocre albums and I had very low expectations for that album but from the first time I listened to it I loved it. Is there anything in particular about it that you don't like? While I like the song I think that "Down" was probably a poor choice for the first single.

I do like No 4 but it's by far my least listened to STP album. But I only discovered their music a year back and it was the last of the albums I bought after a three month long binge of listening to them. To be fair, I probably didn't even give it the time I gave the other albums.

Yeah, I get what you mean. Shangri-La Dee Da was the STP album that I listened to the least until recently when I forced myself to give it many spins over the span of a week. I did end up getting a new appreciation for it but still feel that it is somewhat lacking.

I'd definately recommend it. I found it to be quite samey on a first listen but after two or three plays the tracks start to stand apart from eachother.

Shrangi La Dee Da kis extremely underrated, like most of their wrok. I cant see them as a "singles" band. Any band that can make 6 consecutive amazing albums, with each being a little different and better than the last is amazing. Not many rock bands can do that. I think each album is great in its own way.

There first few albums where really good, they it seem's like at the time where thought of as just grunge knockoffs of Pearl Jam & Nirvana. But nowadays they seem to be more respected, Scott is an interesting frontman

Lacking, yeah thas to the word how I felt about Shangri, I traded it eventually, and yet there wasn't a song on it that I disliked.

No 4 has some wicked tracks like Down and Sour Girl but, unfortunatly it's bogged down with a nu-metal-esque sound contemporaneous of its time.

The first three albums are amongst my favourites. The s/t isn't anything particularly memorable but it rocks like fuck and doesn't really dip at any point. Scott Weiland's solo album Happy In Galoshes is sublime, the best work he's done since Tiny Music imo.

Happy in Galoshes is on my "to buy" list but I have yet to find the deluxe version for a decent price. It took me a long time to appreciate 12 Bar Blues but now i quite dig it.

Ah it's much better than 12 Bar Blues, I thought that sounded unfinished.

I found the deluxe "Happy" album at Best Buy for around 20 bucks. The single disc is better imo. The double album seems like they put some demos, and outtakes on it, which is great, but as an album the single disc is more listenable start to finish. His cover of fame is slammin.

There're songs like Man I Didn't Know only on the deluxe edition though.....for me neither disc wanes.
