there are some catchy tracks if you're not looking for something deep, although her take on Brooks & Dunn's Believe is nothing short of stellar. very beautiful rendition. "what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

I got it. It's ok, gotta grow on me. Her voice is better than the material.

Naw-I'd never buy a cd that has a lead song called Where You At and I'm starting to get tired of Jennifer I mean the weight loss was a good thing, but the commercials have given me a Jennifer overload

I soooo agree, however I notice that just about every song ends with an abrupt stop...is that how most recordings are now. I haven't noticed it until I listened to this cd. The songs are short too. I do like I Remeber Me. I think her cover shot is gorgeous! "A Man Can't Ride Your Back Unless It's Bent" MLK 4/3/68

I bought it and I don't think it is as good as her debut. I really dislike the songs Alicia Keys had a hand in because they all sound like her leftovers. I do think she should make I Got This a single at some point during the promo process.

I noticed that too. Except for Where You At, where it fades out on the best note in the song. "Keep in mind that I'm an artist...and I'm sensitive about my shit."--E. Badu

Allmusic.com gave it 4 1/2 stars and a glowing review. I won't be buying it though. Another contemporary R&B disaster...Jennifer still hasn't been given songs that she suit her voice. Check me out and add me on:

At this rate...she never will.

I am buying this CD even though from what I've heard so far, it's not that great. I just love her voice.
With Adele, Susan Boyle etc selling like hotcakes, it's a damn shame that the people behind Jennifer Hudson do not know how to present her and give her the material to shine the way she should. "Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."

Look at the company she's with. If she was with Adele's company, she'd have better material.

I see. It's a shame, though.....It's obvious that a voice alone can sell these days. People talk about the "non-singers" and blah blah, but Adele and Susan Boyle have found their lanes. Jennifer, though, is kinda in "no man's land". I don't know what her image or sound is supposed to be, ya know? [Edited 3/23/11 15:48pm] "Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."

It's the stigma of being part of "American Idol". All of them sound like they don't really belong anywhere.

Listened to it, liked it for what it is, not in a hurry to buy it but I will probably buy it when I have the money.

I'll pass. I'll have to hear something that catches my ear. Looking at the songs, her voice is better than the material. [Edited 3/24/11 19:55pm] I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I purchased the CD because I like her single "Where You At" (which initially had to grow on me). However, it is something about the Alecia Keys songs that just do not suit Jennifer's powerful voice. I like those the least. "You need to laydown and let me show you how we do this thing up in funky town. From the heart of Minnesota here come the purple Yoda guaranteed to bring the dirty new sound! Come on, now!"

I think Carrie Fisher is putting Hudson and other "make money off of losing weight" stars to shame. Her honesty is painful. Each film is like a mini Lars Von Trier in 30 second film.
That's all I got cause despite her Oscar win, she's got zero charisma vocally or personality wize. I feel for her tragedy but that's not enough to divert the major snooze enducer I feel when watching/listening to her. Space for sale...
