Crazy artist, he died quite young too if I remember. I prefer his movies to his music, he was one of John Waters' lot. Insanity personified.

i actually remember the day he left this earth. it was all over the daily news. i was on my way to school, and i remember news about divine.
the concerts divine gave were funny, he sang over the album tracks and was sweating profusely. polyester is a crazy movie!!!
it's my favourite john waters movie. i love the melodramatic dialog. [Edited 3/24/11 16:26pm]

That bitch was wild. Y'all should see her first movie "Pink Flamingos". The bitch actually sucked a dick in the movie and they showed it. She turned me off though when she put that dog shit in her mouth at the end of the movie though. That was gross.
As for songs, this one's my favorite...

He also broke into mainstream and was on "All In The Family". I was watching this on DVD just the other night....

I think that was the point of the film: to be as nasty and filthy as possible. I loved the film.

i actually hated pink flamingoes. 'female trouble', 'multiple maniacs', 'desperate living'... i saw all those early films. i'm not really into gratouitousness like that. i'm pretty old fashioned. but i LOVE ployester though. that's probably the only film i like from waters, actually, come to think about it.
i used to work concessions at this cinema a billion years ago, and john waters used to go there at least once a week. and EVERY TIME, the only words he ever said to me were, 'jujyfruits, please.' he didn't seem like a very nice guy. maybe he was just shy, i don't know.
and 'jungle jezebel'... what was that she said? "i ain't your aunt jemima, and darlin' you ain't my pimp'? when i first heard that, i was like, well, okay.
and which john waters movie was that when they raped a chicken? i was like, OH HAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIL NAW! wasn't that 'desperate living'? or was it 'pink flamingos'? [Edited 3/25/11 1:56am] [Edited 3/25/11 1:57am]

Yeah, that was Pink Flamingos. Folks should have an open mind & strong stomach to see that film. I love the old John Waters films. Probably my favorite is Female Trouble:
