My love affair with 70s crap.

I know these are not great songs, but they are well put together, well played and are good constructed pop songs. There was a reason these were hits, people!

America, Horse With No Name:

Starbuck, Moonlight, Feels Right:

Great vibe solo there. Now there's a lead singer. boxed

Ace, How Long:

Paul Carracks one bad mofo. We need more real singers again.

Paul Davis, I Go Crazy:

Michael Martin Murphy, Wildfire, aww:

Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds, Don't Pull Your Love Out:

Need it babee

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Michael Murphy played with Michael Nesmith before Nez joined the Monkees. As far as "crap" goes, to me there's no such thing, and I don't believe in terms like "guilty pleasures" or "cheesy". I either like a song (or movie, TV show, etc), or I don't. Only snobs use those types of names to describe entertainment to make themselves sound like they have some sort of superior "taste". It's not that serious.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Unholyalliance

I highly dislike it when people refer to music as 'cheesey' or 'crap.' It reeks of snobbery. Like, only a certain type of music is legit and anything that doesn't fit that mold is just 'crap.'

There is a lot of crap--it's not snobbery, it's a fact. Most of these artists I mention, when you look at their actual albums, most of the the songs are pure garbage.

That's your opinion. It's not a fact. I'm sure there are people who enjoy these performers music. I don't really like Tejano music, but I wouldn't call it "garbage" and "crap" because it doesn't appeal to me. I just don't go out of my way to listen to it. It's like people say the music on the radio is bad. Well, don't listen to it if you don't like it. There's obviously lots of other people who enjoy it and request the songs to be played.

I have 2 CDs worth of 70 songs (which include most of the songs you mentioned). They are THE CD's my partner and I listen to the most, hands DOWN. We have complete opposite music tastes, but for some reason both love this stuff. Never gets old.

Other gems:

How Do You Do

Afternoon Delight

The Night Chicago Died

It Never Rains in Southern California

Please Come to Boston

Rock Me Gently

Sweet City Woman
