You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

This one is .......different......I really love the acapella harmonies, but Mario's voice --kinda like having Isaac Hayes sing the song....

i like this version!!! ironically i can actually hear what they're saying here... i can't hear a word mc donald is saying in the song. it just sounds like this to me:

"WOOOOOWOOOOOWOOOOWOOOWOOOOOO... WOOOOOOOWOOOOOOWOOOOOWOOOOO WOOOOOO WOOOOO WOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOOO.. WHAT A FOOL BELEEEEEEEEEIVES TO SEEEEEEEEEEE... WISMANHASSAPOWAAAAAAHHHH.. DIDIOWEEEEEH.... HEEEEEEEEEEEE TO SEEEEEEE... HEH HEHHAVA NUFFFIN'... WOOOOOWOOOOWOOOOOWOOOO WOOOO WOOOOOOO... ETC."

i actually like that song though, i just can't ever hear him whenever he sings.

lol I know!! Someone once said that when the Doobie Brothers sing, you can hear their beards, lol I'm sure he was talking about Mike--I think he sings directly through the beard!!!

BTW, I love this Italian version, too--I just wasn't peprared for Mario Biondi's Isaac Hayes tone on the song.....

Doobies! --Funny thing is, it was originally co-written by Kenny Loggins, and its on his album "Nightwatch". Less than a year later, Michael and the Doobies took it, and turned it inside out!

I ain't even gonna post the original, 'cause it's not even close to the Doobie version, lol !

BUT, I Love this version with both Kenny and Michael:

I've never been a big fan of that version (although it's way better than Kenny's original). It's nice and all, but my main problem with it is that it's too laid back. The driving beat of the Doobies' version really propels the song in a way that's sorely missing here. In truth I have a hard time with most covers of this song because I'd much rather just listen to the definitive version. nod

C'mon, it's a great song regardless of the gender of the vocalist. There's nothing to compare. biggrin

Definitely, a favorite!!
