Robert Palmer ~ I Didn't Mean To Turn You On {Extended Dance Mix} You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I don't think I ever heard this mix before. Thanks! I love every version of this song. Robert did it justice. There's nothing like the original of course with Cherrelle but Mariah's wasn't bad either. Didn't Jam/Lewis produce all three versions?

^^No, Robert's version was produced by Bernard Edwards. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

This used to be played on the radio all the time where I live. It got more play than the regular version. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

When I used to listen to the radio, this version is what I heard too. Sometimes they played his and Cherrelle's original back and forth.

^^^That makes me think of a breakdancing King Kong. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
