One of the major albums of my late teen years! I cherish every song on this album. The whole concept of the Street Opera as well as the music which makes it up is just genius! Highly, highly recommended work of R&B mastery.

I never heard this album in its entirely before but as I understand,it's some kind of concept album, right? A story being told?

Yes! The actual "Street Opera" consists of the last five songs (from "Working Man" to "Working Man (Reprise)." The others are random R&B songs, but y'know...they should have written the entire album into the "Street Opera!" What were they thinkin'? (OR drinkin'?) Hehe. The story is of a young couple who are having ruff times most likely due to the economy (at that time, 1982) and tells a tender, hopeful tale of how they work it out so they CAN stay together. It's absolutely beautiful and done in typical A&S style. Ain't NUTHIN' like Nick and Val when they put sumthin' down and work it out with all those theatrics! Sorry I didn't get back soon, "Soul." I just caught this today. smile

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

On Facebook, fans were asking about the delay of the 'Winners' remaster and here is what Big Break Records wrote in response on April 3rd:

"This "Treasure" will be ready soon.Remember,we "Do It For Love" and sometimes that takes longer to make it "The Real Thing".You are, however,"Closer To The One That You Love" and you will be "Prancin & Dancin" to this CD within a month. This is not just a "Teaser"....

lol the CD is taking a little longer than usual because they opted to include an additional bonus track---the rare B-side "Echoes Of An Era" (which appeared on the flip side of the 1982 "Welcome To The Club" single).Rest assured, the official release date is May 2nd.
