Blues legend Pinetop Perkins dies Legendary blues musician/pianist Joe Willie “Pinetop” Perkins has died at his home in Austin, Texas at the age of 97, according to a family website. Perkins made history earlier this month when he became the older person ever to win a Grammy Award.
Perkins and collaborator Willie “Big Eyes” Smith” won the Best Traditional Blues Album for “Joined at the Hip: Pinetop Perkins & Willie ‘Big Eyes’ Smith.”
The previous eldest Grammy recipient was comedian George Burns who won the award at age 95.

Had the honor of meeting Mr. Perkins at the Chicago Blues Fest 2008, he was a lil' bit of a flirt. He said, "I can't "do nothin" but the Lord blessed me with sight still to see all these pretty woman."
