Regarding the "reissue" art of "Off The Wall", does anyone know when the photo was taken?

To me, it looks like it's at least a couple of years later. 1981 or so.

I think it was taken a few weeks after the one on the right. This is from the same photoshoot where Michael apparently chalked the words, "THE WORLD HAS GONE OFF THE WALL!"

But that doesn't make sense. If the shoots were so close together, then surely they would have just gone with the newer shot to begin with.

Looks like it was around 1980 or maybe even 81

Late '79, early 1980. The ad on "The Michael Jackson Archives" is to celebrate Rock With You going platinum, so around February or March '80

well, they weren't weeks apart

The original cover was done around June-July '79 and the latter shoot was done about November '79, around the time Michael got the taper/curl and was released Rock With You

1980-1981 he had that short curl.

It's easy to pick up the signs of what year when you look at someone's hair and clothing style.

It's not that complicated for even the casual fans lol

I think he shot the DSTYGE video around July 1979. The OTW cover was June so yeah.

I was about to chime in on that myself. He was in that "transitional period" between the permed-out fro and the short curl (which later became the "California curl" when he started slicking back the "baby hair") lol.
