If there are any more Cascio songs on it Sony are going to get buried further. Or, er, deeper.

I’m just more concern with the concert releases or any other DVD specials they might put out. The fact that most can’t tell it’s Michael or not really did a disservice to any other future albums and also the album just wasn’t good imo so I’m not looking forward to them. I’m not really into posthumous albums to begin with.

The damage is done I'm afraid. What we now have is provable fact that Michael Jackson was conspired against. Those songs sound more like Andrew Jackson than Michael Jackson. Add to that the abomination of the Visions DVD boxset and the lies upon lies that lead up to the release of This Is It in the cinemas and you have a belief among many fans that Sony are deliberately sabotaging Michael Jackson's legacy.

What was wrong with the DVD set? I will say that I had most of the videos except for a couple. Anything with Can You Feel It on it is good with me. That was the only thing so far that I liked that was release.

It's a great set but....

they missed about 3 or 4 videos

the quality wasn't that great

no 5.1 surround sound (now we can't make instrumentals or acapellas! lol )

They weren't really remastered

no blu ray release

What was wrong with it??? What was right with it? Michael Jackson was the KING of the music video short film. He was hiring film directors back in 1983 to film his music videos on 35mm with Dolby sound... thereby future proofing them. How, then, did Sony release the Visions boxset with the majority of videos with black boxes around them??? And NO sound settings? Whose 'vision' was that? Certainly not Michael's.

He paid approximately a $1 million dollars out of his own pocket to fund Thriller. Thriller was filmed on 35mm in Dolby at 1:85. So how the fuck did Sony get it to look like this on an iPhone??? How can there be borders not only above and below the video but also to the left and right of it?!? How?!? How do you do that??? It's like owning the Mona Lisa and putting it in an IKEA frame. You can't do that shit by accident. Those are people deliberately screwing with his art.

Whatever?!? You mean it was OK for Michael to be the perfectionist that he was, ESPECIALLY when it came to his short films, only for Sony to completely ignore his efforts and to reduce the quality of his work in order to flog his art to a generation of buyers brought up on BluRay? I mean, it's ok for us... we've seen Thriller as it was supposed to be seen.

Imagine that you're 13 years old and you've never seen a Michael Jackson video and you buy this boxset in the hope of learning what all the fuss was about. You load up Thriller, not only his but THE greatest music video ever set to film, and you see it surrounded by black boxes without Dolby sound.

If you cared about Michael Jackson the man and not just Michael Jackson the product you'd be as outraged as I am.

Most of the stuff put out is pure cash. That's all they care about: money. Not the artistic value of his music and entertainment. Also they're putting a legendary R&B producer's reputation in jeopardy by having him accept money to produce a Michael Jackson album without Michael Jackson's actual vocals. lol

Predictions for today’s Michael Jackson and Cirque du Soleil L.V. plans
By Robin Leach

Cirque du Soleil and Michael Jackson's Immortal.
Photo: Cirque du Soleil
The late Michael Jackson’s lawyer and former manager John Branca, who is a co-executor of the King of Pop’s estate, and Cirque du Soleil President Daniel Lamarre will unveil this afternoon an extraordinary pact described as “an unparalleled and extensive ongoing relationship.”
Daniel and John will be joined at Mandalay Bay by its president, Chuck Bowling; Jamie King, writer and director of the upcoming Michael Jackson Immortal world tour; and Jerry Nadal, Las Vegas-based senior VP of Cirque’s resident shows division.
In advance of today’s expected mega-deal details, VegasDeLuxe.com has posted several stories about the end of Disney’s The Lion King at Mandalay Bay this Dec. 30, the Immortal touring show arriving at Mandalay Bay Events Center starting Dec. 3 and an exclusive interview with Cirque chief Daniel.

Photo: Luxor
Criss Angel and Daniel Lamarre at the Luxor in 2008.
Today, I’m set to interview all four principals about the Jackson-Cirque alliance, and we’ll report any breaking news via Twitter (@robin_leach) and then tomorrow, we’ll post the interviews.
In advance of today’s afternoon session, I am confident with a few predictions:
*Cirque will reveal first details of the second Jackson show, a resident production -- in the spirit of The Beatles Love at the Mirage and the Elvis Presley tribute Viva Elvis! at Aria -- to open here in 2013 at a newly renovated Mandalay Theater. Cirque now has rights to the Top Three musical artists in history.
*John is expected to discuss financial benefits to the estate from the pact. He also will reveal all of the merchandising and licensing deals with Cirque that will include a Michael Jackson boutique at Mandalay Bay.

Photo: Jake Novak/Berliner Photography
Director Jamie King and John Branca, executor of The Estate of Michael Jackson.
*Jamie will describe Immortal, which opens Oct. 2 in Cirque’s hometown of Montreal, Quebec, and arrives here Dec. 3 for 33 performances before moving on to Phoenix Dec. 30. Its global tour will hit 47 cities -- and counting.
*I’m also expecting details of the cutting-edge 3D technology being used so that “even though Michael Jackson won’t be portrayed onstage, he will appear, and audiences will feel and experience his presence.” We’ll also hear just how much of the final dress rehearsal footage of Michael hours before his death in L.A. and his flight to London for the 02 Arena This Is It shows are incorporated.
*Due to extraordinary ticket sales and demand, Cirque will possibly announce additional Las Vegas dates, a return for a second run and more cities on what could eventually be a minimum additional two-year run after the debut North American tour concludes mid-July in Cleveland.
Cirque du Soleil and Michael Jackson

In our 24-hour news-hungry cycle, we should be able to pry more details of the plans, timeline, cast and crew behind the new Mandalay Bay Michael Jackson residency show. I’m expecting confirmation that in this permanent production, Michael will be portrayed as a young child growing up in the Jackson 5 and the early stages of his solo career.
I was reliably told yesterday: “These are the most ambitious projects within one of the biggest contracts ever to be undertaken. It is totally remarkable and unlike anything else ever attempted in show business. Careful creative control and magnificent management will ensure Michael Jackson’s legacy will live forever.
“No other artist in the world has ever before had two simultaneous shows about his life and his music. It is phenomenal that it’s all brought back to life here in Las Vegas, where he once happily lived.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MICHAEL JACKSON CELEBRATED IN LAS VEGAS

Mandalay Bay, Cirque du Soleil and The Estate of Michael Jackson confirm plans

LAS VEGAS – Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino President and Chief Operating Officer, Chuck Bowling, Cirque du Soleil President and CEO, Daniel Lamarre and Estate of Michael Jackson Co-Executor, John Branca confirmed the venue for a permanent Michael Jackson production at Mandalay Bay and announced new aspects of the creative relationship in a press conference held today at the resort. Production has begun to evaluate the transformation of the resort’s theater and identification of the creative team for the show, which is slated to open in the spring of 2013.

Chuck Bowling said: “The world may never again know a force in entertainment of the caliber of Michael Jackson. On behalf of the entire Mandalay Bay and MGM Resorts International teams, we are deeply honored and humbled to be home to incredible entertainment celebrating his legacy for new generations to come.

Daniel Lamarre added: “We are excited about creating this new Michael Jackson production for Mandalay Bay. Michael Jackson is creatively inspiring for Cirque du Soleil artisans and creative teams. There are so many common creative elements between us that it is a pleasure to imagine this new production. It is also very exciting that we will be presenting Michael Jackson The IMMORTAL World Tour at Mandalay Bay for an extended run this December and Jamie King and the creative team are promising us a pop rock spectacular to kick things off grandly.”

In addition to the permanent show opening in 2013, theextensive relationship will include many facets certain to mesmerize new and lifelong Michael Jackson fans alike:

MICHAEL JACKSON THE IMMORTAL WORLD TOUR

Opening December 3 at Mandalay Bay, Michael Jackson The IMMORTAL World Tour will perform in Las Vegas for an extended run on its highly anticipated North American tour. This extended stop will allow fans from all over the world to converge on Las Vegas , the perfect international destination for visitors to discover the new home of Michael Jackson, and experience the pop rock extravaganza imagined by Jamie King.

THE MICHAEL JACKSON FAN FEST

To kick-off the tour stop in Las Vegas, fans will have the chance to experience the legacy of Michael Jackson in a whole new way during the first ever Estate-authorized Michael Jackson Fan Fest taking place for a limited time only at Mandalay Bay beginning December 3, 2011. This experience is expected to include a wide variety of elements such as an up-close look at Michael Jackson memorabilia, items from Neverland Ranch, photo opportunities in recreated sets from historic Michael Jackson videos, a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Michael Jackson The IMMORTAL World Tour, a main stage featuring contests, Q&A sessions with members of the creative team fromMichael Jackson The IMMORTAL World Tour as well as other associates of Michael Jackson, giveaways and more. In addition, the Fan Fest will give attendees the chance to compete against one another in contests centered around the recently released UBISOFT video game “Michael Jackson The Experience.”

An interactive, engaging, and immersive design will create a larger-than-life environment for all Fan Fest goers and promises to be a unique event. The Fan Fest will be open for 4 hours before Michael Jackson The IMMORTAL World Tour shows on December 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, and 14 in Mandalay Bay’s Bayside Exhibit Halls. In the case of two-show nights, the Fan Fest will have two sessions open to the public at separate starting times. Ticket and session information will be announced in the coming weeks and Michael Jackson Fan Fest will offer up-to-the-minute updates on the Fan Fest.

Said John Branca and John McClain, Executors of The Estate of Michael Jackson: “We are thrilled to establish Michael’s home away from home at Mandalay Bay. Because of its remote location, few people will ever get to visit Michael’s Neverland Ranch. But millions of Michael’s fans will be able to hear Michael’s music and experience him in tangible and exciting new ways at Mandalay Bay. We are especially excited that the Estate has authorized the first Michael Jackson Fan Fest, something Michael’s fans have been calling for and something Michael always wanted for his fans. We look forward to working with our partners – Mandalay Bay, Cirque du Soleil and MGM Resorts International – in implementing these exciting projects.”

MICHAEL JACKSON ALL ACCESS

Mandalay Bay also will be the permanent home of a creative collaboration from The Estate of Michael Jackson and Cirque du Soleil aimed at giving fans a unique encounter with Michael’s artistic genius, sense of wonder and humanitarian spirit. Just as Michael Jackson The IMMORTAL World Tour and the newly announced permanent show at Mandalay Bay will open the eyes and ears of the world to experiencing Michael’s music in a whole new way, this permanent exhibit will take fans, new and old, on a journey to the next level by giving them the opportunity to access Michael Jackson – the consummate performer, the philanthropist and the person – in entirely new ways, in part using the most state-of-the-art interactive technology. This experience is expected to spark memories, inspire hope andhelp us discover new things about Michael and ourselves, engaging minds andinspiring hearts.

MICHAEL JACKSON LOUNGE

The Michael Jackson Estate and Cirque du Soleil will create the Michael Jackson Lounge – a space that will bring to life Michael’s music in an atmosphere celebrating his career and legacy.

A fan was at the press conference:

I work at Mandalay Bay, and on my lunch hour today was able to attend a small portion of the press conference. They showed some sneak previews of the Immortal World Tour show and they looked even better than I expected. They showed a bit of the opening sequence, in which you enter the gates of Neverland (the famous golden gates with Michael's name above), and also a clip set to "Childhood", another of "Smooth Criminal" and another of "Thriller". Lots of spectacular lightning effects and beautiful backdrops will be featured. Of course the show hasn't been completely finalized yet, so parts may come and go, but what I saw is sure to please fans and make fans out of everyone who isn't already.

Directly in front of the stage was a plexiglass case with Michael's fedora and sequined glove on display. A simple but very moving tribute.

Just got back from seeing 2 prince shows in LA. Both nights (Fri/Sat) he perfromed DSTYGE - with Sat's version getting a reprise after Cool. - prince informed the band to "go back to Michael" and you could see Prince getting into the groove of the song. He called out that he had seen MJ at the forum, and it seems now with Michael's passing Prince is able to be more open about his respect for him.

If he had played DSTYGE when MJ was alive you'd get fans suggesting his ripping him off, now I guess it's seen as a nod and tribute from one musical genius to another.

Reportedly on the Thursday night he played Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' / Cool instead.

Who is that guy on the right?! OMG he's cute. mushy Jackie's still got it though. wink

That's Jamie King - the creative director / choreographer for the show.

BTW inside word is that unlike The Beatles Love show most of music for the MJ show will be by a live band using some of the crew from This Is It.

Also love that Image of MJ for the announcement. It's classic MJ mystique.

That´s sweet.

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."
