Whenever BritPop is mentioned, i automatically think of "Urban Hymns" by The Verve, that to me was the ultimate Britpop album. As for Oasis, all their albums are great after "Morning Glory", go listen to "Don't Believe The Truth", it is arguably better. Paul Weller deserves a mention too, another Britpop icon.

We're here, might as well get into it.

I've been listening to quite a bit of Supergrass lately, particularly their last two albums (Road to Rouen and Diamond Hoo Ha) which are terribly underrated. I like these guys for a similar reason that The Damned were my favourite British punk group, both bands just seemed like a bunch of friends having fun and not taking themselves too seriously. I love Oasis and Blur but it was great that at the height of their "fued" that Supergrass released albums like I Should Coco and In It For the Money. They kind of faded a way a bit after the third album but they never really released a bad album and they are all worth a listen. I'm a little bummed that there hasn't been a b-sides/stray tracks cd release yet. I would have thought that after they split that the record company would have released something to cash in on them and since they already released a best of a b-sides compilation seems like a logical thing to release.

Give me 80's Britpop over 90's garbage overall. I liked Elastica, All Saints and Garbage though. The rest were generic and bland in my opinion. The 00's had good acts though.

I don't understand, do you like Garbage or not? razz

Who are some of the '00s acts that you have enjoyed? I kind of stopped following new British bands when Coldplay became successful.

My recollection of the 90s Britpop explosion was that a lot of the rock bands were marketed here in the States as "alternative". I worked at a college radio station and was first exposed to (London) Suede, Oasis, Elastica, Blur,The Charlatans, and few others. That Britpop documentary "Live Forever" brought back some great musical memories. Though they were nearly ruined by that one Yank-bashing British music writer in the film. sad

Suede. Pure awesomeness...
