same base as 'ladies night'- kool & the gang, but MUCH BETTER. they were both 1979... which one was released first?

this song was the jam though! i always liked it better than ladies' night.

It definately has a "Ladies Night" feel to it. I've only heard the song a few times in my entire life but never in it's entirety. When I would do an internet search, I never knew who sang it and I would keep searching the internet for "Get Up And Do Your Thing" with no luck. I just happened to hear it last night in someone's mix and I listened closely to the lyrics and searched for "You Can Do It" along with "Get Up And Do Your Thing" also along with "1979" and finally found it.
