The TLC Thread

What are your favorite albums/songs and why? Oh and since the group lost a lot of steam after Left Eye died, was she the integral part of the group (as she wasn't shy about declaring)?

time flies.

The thing that set TLC apart from a Supremes or Destiny's Child was the fact that the three of them seemed to have necessary roles and weren't just there. I loved that. They were all essential. T-Boz took lead on most tracks but she wasn't dominant in the same way Diana or Beyonce was.

A great, great album. "Creep" is my favorite but love all the tracks.

I like their If I Was Your Girlfriend better though the original is great too. They did a really good cover, and that's a lot coming from me, cause I get mad at those.

I love their first 3 albums and their videos, left eye and chilli are my favourites!

FanMail is my favorite. I remember picking it up the day it came out and was blown away by every. single. track.

I was disappointed there wasn't a P cover on it, though. I really dig their versions of Get It Up and IIWYG.

Edit: I'm pretty sure their version of Get It Up is the first one I heard. smile

Oh hell yeah! I was surprised at how well they rocked "Get It Up". They tried to keep the funk alive in their time (in their own way).

That's probly why they couldnt really be sucsessful without Lisa, they really were a group. Not a star vehicle.

CSC - you can tell they were listening to P a whle damn lot that period, since Waterfalls is basically S'O'TT, Red Light Special is Blue Light, and they covered IIWYG.

TLC will always trump Destiny's Child in my opinion. They were unique, and, like someone else said, they were all the star of the group, not just 1 lead with 2 back-up singers. I love OOOOooooh On the TLC Tip for it's nostalgic quality, and of course CSC is '90's R&B at its best. FanMail is awesome as well, and even 3-D, which got the least attention, still has great cuts ("Good Love", "Hands Up", "Damaged"). It makes me sad that Left Eye is no longer with us because, in spite of their inner-turmoil as a group, they could still be putting out great records. My fave tracks from each album:

Oooohh...

Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg

What About Your Friends

Bad By Myself

His Story

Baby Baby Baby

Depend of Myself

CSC

Creep
Red Light Special

Take Our Time (Chilli KILLED this track!)

Sumthin' Wicked This Way Comes

FanMail

FanMail

Silly Ho

No Scrubs

I'm Good at Being Bad

I Miss You So Much

Dear Lie

Automatic

3-D

Hands Up

Good Love

Damaged

In Your Arms Tonight

*Also love their version of "Get It Up", and their funky take on the Christmas classic "Sleigh Ride"

And couldn't really be successful on their own individually either. Exactly.

In the early 90's somebody made a mixtape for me with baby-baby-baby on it. I din't know who sung it, but i loooved that song. Didn't know a girl could sing that sexy cool

With Crazysexy i was hooked.

Great group which had to end way too soon.

I'm sorta with you on that one, but in a way I'm happy for what it was. The 90s was a great time for them. After that it basically went downhill, even before Left Eye died. When I think about their career, I basically stop after Fanmail.

time flies.

They had an unique sound I think. There will be other Destiny Childs but there will never be another TLC.
CrazySexyCool is the best. My favorites from the album are Red Light Special, Waterfalls (that song almost makes me cry sometimes, lol), Kick Your Game, and Sumthin Coming. I also love Fan Mail and Oooooh On The TLC Tip (lol) and while they don't come close to CrazySexyCool my favorites are Silly Ho, Baby-Baby-Baby, Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg, and I Miss You So Much. Their music brings back memories of summertime. :,)
I haven't listened to 3D yet though.

Fave TLC album's

1)CrazySexyCool

2)Fanmail

3)"On The TLC Tip"

4)3D

I used to just love these girls when I was growing up. They were probably my fave girl group when I was younger. What I liked about them is that they each brought something special to the group. No one dominated over the others. They were truly a unit and a team effort.

As far as their music goes, my fave songs of theirs are "No Scrubs", "Take Our Time", "I Miss You So Much", "Baby, Baby, Baby", "Hands Up", "Sleigh Ride", "Creep", "Unpretty", "Diggin' On You", "Waterfalls" and "Red Light Special" among others.

"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

They did the theme song to the Nickelodeon show "All That"

Rare video for "Dear Lie"

Gotta love T-Boz's "I Touch Myself", the original and the remix

Loved Left-Eye's duet with Mel C.

I also liked Left Eye's proteges, Blaque. Their first single and video was unique

Maybe so, but they were still a talented, successful trio that grew into their own. The are the longest running female group with its original members. That says a lot.
