lol Yeah right! Don't try that side talk with me, son, I ain't the one. You straight up lied and said Dave abandoned his family, to which he didn't. Now either get your shit straight or sit the convo out.

Uh, he left for South Africa without telling them. That's right up there in the video above for you to see. Thanks.

Try and let go of the fucking bone. I know you are smarter than this bullshit, and perhaps this has something to do with why you are stirring the pot. Or pushing the buttons as it were. This best wisdom that I have heard in a while should be reiterated to you, "Now either get your shit straight or sit the convo out." This ain't about liking the same shit or not. Truth be asked, how old were you when your dad left?

I am hoping that the lmao is real, cause yes I have a stupid sense of humor and there was really no malice in the comment. But you know, I really do find your perceptions of Dave Chapelle to be disturbing.

And Spinlight - Lisa Lampinelli does not need to come anywhere near this thread again. I will be contacting Jennifer Hudson any minute now if she does. Illuminati forces are currently suiting up.

Disturbing? Why? There must be something I am missing for people to react so fucking violently to the suggestion that Dave Chappelle took some missteps on the way back to normalcy. A man gets overwhelmed by his career and up and disappears to South Africa for 2 weeks. Why SA? Who knows. Why did he leave? Just cuz. How does this not seem meltdown-y? Even in that video above, you see him playing it down. Yet he's the one who called his audience stupid, etc etc. Please.

And if Lisa Lampanelli got her own tv show, she'd be the white Dave Chappelle. I'm just sayin'. (Or is it that we have to respect any- and everything Dave does because he's.... What?)

It's the brush that you are painting him with. And that has eased up as the conversation goes along and you give a little bit - now he takes "missteps." "Why SA?" My response usually might be "why not?" But I am left wondering what has you tripping on SA. You avoided the apples and oranges thing in another post recently, try to avoid the "she'd be the white Dave" thing, too, please. It is a played out model. Where was he calling his audience stupid exactly? (Fuck me if he said that.)

Nothing has me tripping on SA. Why are you trying to psychoanalyze everything I say? Take it at face value. It's like you're trying to goad me into being racist or saying something racist. I don't understand why you hang on all that stuff. Let it go. Not everyone is racist. I know you didn't say they were, but you act it (as do some others around here).

I am not saying, nor have I ever said, that anyone is racist. I expressed my point with presicion - I think the "she's the white so and so" or "he's the black so and so" model is played out. Stop psycohanalyzing yourself. I am also not goading or hanging onto things. And Dave told 1 crowd they were stupid. Sweet, thanks for posting the article, they were stupid.

You can call me anything you would like. The problem that I have with the outraged person at Dave's show in the Bay is that somehow she forgets that Queer people very often have some intense humor ourselves, and the tittie ball man is quite likely to have far more scathing jokes told about him by "family." (And unfortunately far more funny jokes than Dave's as well.) No may always mean no, but sometimes victim is a choice.

Sorry about your Pops.

If the stereotype has to do with loving and respecting people, family, culture, self...

Then, yes, Dave melted down like rice paper in a rainstorm. Otherwise I believe you to be so off the mark as to need a map to get home. The Chapelle family is wonderful, human, smart, smart, lovely and intense. We were blessed to have even a moment of Dave's time.

lol. You drinking the same Kool Aid he was?

I believe Dave to be a very funny guy, but he's also very troubled. He admitted that it wasn't all the suits wanting him to be a stereotypical black comedian.

He had some serious issues, deeply ingrained in him. Some of his skits were painfully unfunny because it looked like a guy who seriously had a need to make people uncomfortable about racism under the guise of being funny or entertaining - neither of which racism is.

Hmmm, Daves BRILLIANT race related skits were meant to poke fun at the obsurdity of PREJUDICE & RACISM, the same way Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park did and the way Seth MacFarlane did on Family Guy. People of ALL races who were truly OPEN....got and get the the jokes. Prejudice & Racism won't go away by denying it, pretending it doesn't exist, not talking about it or WORSE (which is the most disgusting trend these days)....playing the REVERSE RACISM CARD everytime you hear or see something that messes with your mental comfort zone regarding people you TRULY deem different from you.

So, we should all feel compelled to find Dave Chappelle funny in -everything- he does lest we be deemed ignorant or whatever? That's silly.

Do you know what satire is? It's the use of irony and/or wit to expose or attack human foolishness, or stupidity. The chuckle people got from his "the black/white supremacist" skit, had more to do with the twisted irony and ludicrousness of that particular situation not because of the use of the word nigger. You only heard the word nigger & twisted that into an attack on you..somehow confused .
Dave is a very sophisticated satirist/ comedian with a potty mouth....you think Dave is a racist who abandoned his famly. You see the topic of racism as an "attack/ counter attack" issue. There is no arguing with a person who is more concerned with "being right" than "being correct" beatdeadhorse .

I apologize to Identity for being party to your thread becoming hijacked . Back to D'Angelo's messiness OR lockdance

It's amazing how some artists seem hellbent on destroying their own careers.Makes no sense.

I think that's an interesting phenomenon as well, but not surprising. They were simply not strong enough to keep their egos in check and/or to handle everything thrown at them (money, adulation, pressure to create). Talented with no hard core to keep them stable & moving forward. Pretty sad. At least Maxwell kept his shit tight and his mouth shut while he was gettng himself together to release new music.
