this happened before Gaga

Jessica Carlson, a spokesperson for the popular retail corporation, explains that the company’s revised giving protocol was enacted after a meeting between the corporate responsibility committee and board of directors to discuss public policy engagement. Target’s new political giving procedures, available for review on the company’s web site, include the formation of a policy committee to guide decision-making and ensure balance between the company’s business interests and the priorities of employees, customers and shareholders.

LGBT interest groups may stand to see benefits from Target Corp.’s politically balanced giving plan. While Carlson noted that the company has “a long history” of supporting the LGBT community, she also admitted that the company hopes to “evolve” its political giving outlook.

Few doubt Bored This Way will move a gargantuan number of units, but sooner or later some will grow weary of the pandering for profit marketing strategy. Right now I'm too worn out by the pre-release overkill to care about the music.

I think the sales will be quite decent but probably not the degree Gaga and 'em think it may get. Like I said, I would've applauded her more if she had decided NOT to sell the album in Target but it was her decision to try to sell a limited edition and I doubt she really went in there with intentions to please what is supposedly her "core audience". Some of her "core audience" actually do think her music sucks though they would clap on her for "speaking out" as it may on prejudice in the LGBT community but wouldn't be caught dead listening to her. Like I said she's already doing too much and she's doing this for attention. It's a complex issue with someone as popular as her. Yeah I can understand if she was trying to make a big statement but then again she could've not done it at all. Store chains are "evil" anyway. But when you become a mainstream artist, it's either damn if you do, damn if you don't. And from what effhunsd said, it seemed like she jumped on the bandwagon so it wouldn't look like she was treating her "core audience" badly.

I mean, think of the fans who did pre-order their copy of the limited edition from Target. From what I heard, you can still pre-order the album on its site so who knows if she really decided to cancel it.

I'm not a big Gaga fan but I do appluad her decsion (although it is probably more about attention and selling albums rather than the cause...at the end of the day, Target is about money, not gay or straight rights). However, I do want to know what happens to the special edition? Seriously? Maybe the albums aren't printed, but if they are, where is she going to sell them. If I buy it, I want the special edition with bonus tracks (new songs, not remixes...if it's all remixes, forget it!). I also agree with Identity....the pre-release is getting tiresome.

So basically Stefani wanted to try the cocaine and live in poor conditions to become a star:

Lady Gaga: 'My apartment was covered in cocaine and cockroaches'
Singer opens up in new Neil Strauss book

Lady Gaga has given a rare insight into her pre-fame past in a new book, Everyone Loves You When You Are Dead.

In the book, written by Neil Strauss, Gaga speaks about her past drug abuse and the conditions in which she used to live in when she was younger.

"Sometimes it freaks me out when I think about laying in my apartment [in New York] with bedbugs and roaches on the floor and mirrors with cocaine everywhere, and no will or interest in doing anything but making music and getting high," she said.

She added: "I've had such obstacles with drugs and rejection and people not believing in me. It's been a very long and continuous road that I love, but it's hard to just chalk it up to myself."

Gaga said she experimented with drugs for artistic ends, inspired by David Bowie and Mick Jagger.

"I didn't have a bad childhood," she said. "All of the things I went through were on my own quest for an artistic journey to @#$% myself up like [Andy] Warhol and Bowie and Mick."

Everyone Loves You When You're Dead: Journeys Into Fame And Madness is published on May 5 in the UK. The extracts were first published by Radaronline.com.

Gaga facing more copying claims

Lady Gaga is facing further accusations of plagiarism over her latest track Born This Way from two music producers, who claim there are "similarities" with a song they wrote for a South Korean girl band.

The Poker Face hitmaker released the highly-anticipated new single last month and was immediately criticized over allegations the track sounds just like Madonna's Express Yourself.

Gaga has since dismissed the slurs, and even insists Madonna has contacted her to support the record.

But now the controversial singer is facing fresh plagiarism allegations from production duo E-Tribe, who have announced plans to question Gaga over the song's alleged resemblance to a track called Be Happy, which they wrote for pop group SNSD.

An E-Tribe representative tells Newsen, "Someone this morning told me that there were reports of Lady Gaga plagiarizing SNSD's Be Happy. I listened, and I do feel that there are similarities. The way the song flows and the arrangements are, honestly, the same. I am currently working to get in contact with Lady Gaga's publishing label to find further information."

Oh man...I rather like Girl's Generation's Gee. Gee Gee Gee Gee. Their songs are pretty nice. Do you guys really think it's copying are all of them are just using the same program to do their music? If they did copy then I know what forum(s) Lady Gaga's camp have been hanging out at.

There are definitely some similarities but I'm not convinced that she ripped off the song. Would she even have heard the song?

I can see why that video would make Gaga cry. That was very cute.

Unfortunately if that girl sang a Prince song she would be hearing from his lawyers. sad

I don't think Prince has to worry, I doubt she knows about Prince lol she's into the latest artists. I think she did a cover of Bruno Mars' song "Just the Way You Are" too.

Zzzzz. These people are stretching. If anything, this proves how corny and played out Born This Way is melodically or even production-wise. It's still a good song (your mileage may vary) and it's not a rip off of any one song anymore than any other song in any other genre is.

I'm not a big Gaga fan, and think the new song mostly is recycled garbage, but I feel like it's a little cynical to just write this off as pandering.

She's trying to use her power to advance gay rights - and it is risky for her financially. At the end of the day, there's nothing bad I can say about that.

Now seriously, this is a damn shame. Gaga has basically did what Timbaland & Ke$ha....oops, I mean Ke$hit has done before her, which is taking someone else beats AND vocal melody without given them co-songwriting credits, upfront cash payments, or anything.
