Dubai: Jermaine Jackson, whose own attributes were often overlooked due to the phenomenal success of his brother Michael and sister Janet, is set to release his first solo album in 19 years, with several of the tracks having being recorded in Dubai.

Jackson told Gulf News that the album will have Middle Eastern and Asian influences while retaining its R & B core.

"I hope people will enjoy listening to my new songs just as much as I have enjoyed recording them," said Jackson, who was a surprise visitor to Meydan Racecourse on Thursday night.

"I've collaborated with musicians like Adnan Sami and Sonu Nigam on the album which will have a fair share of contemporary Middle Eastern and Asian rhythms. We hope to release the album this summer."

In the last 70s and early 80s Jermaine and his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael were The Jackson 5, a pop-music phenomena that remains till now one of the most successful and best selling music bands of all times.

So does this mean it's only being released there?

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Maybe where you live, but there's still many record stores where I'm at (and I live in America biggrin ).

The last I bought an album at the store was two years ago.

I loved those times years ago, when you bought CDS in the store and opened them up and played them in your CD player for the first time.

There's several stores in my city that sell only records and cassettes and no CDs.

I never used the Sam Goody. They were only in the mall and only carried the same thing you can buy in a Wal Mart, just the top 40 hits and they were overpriced.

Tito was. Jackie's a question mark. Don't even know if this is even gonna be released. People ignore this but every time the Jacksons do announce something it never gets out.

You notice how everytime there is a tour rumour or album being worked on with almost any Jackson, its always somewhere where no one can "call them" on the BS. "Hey we are starting our tour in Transylvania next month", thats coming next

I mean the other night i watched Latoya on the Joy Behar show, and i really could not believe the BS coming from her mouth, i mean i actually thought to myself....is she even hearing what she is saying? Talking about how Michaels death was a conspiracy, that many got together to murder him? that Michael called Latoya and said they were going to kill him. Now i know she lost her brother but this is straight BS, and if it isnt she should be up on charges for not calling someone in to help her brother who was going to be "murdered" if my brother or sister called me and said someone was trying to murder them, i would be knocked people down to get to them and then taking lives left and right. I mean the fact that Latoya was saying this i lost the half an ounce of respect that i had for that family.

Yes it is. I wonder what happened to the track the brothers were recording with Jam & Lewis.

They never recorded it. They spent too much time arguing than recording the track.

Is that the one where Tito said Jackie, Marlon, & Jermaine sounded like The Supremes? lol
