what can i even say... STEVIE WONDER IS THE GREATEST ARTIST OF ALL TIMES!!! every time i hear this song though, when it cuts off i just hum 'all i do', hee hee... father (STEVIE) and son (michael) together again... i actually love that he performs it live that way, the two songs right after another.

One of his best songs ever! That one and "Do Like You". "Hotter Than July" is definately my favorite Stevie Wonder album.

It was 1980 and it was my first Stevie Wonder album also. Actually, it was my only Stevie Wonder album for years except for a few 45s on up until the 2000s when I bought most of those 1970s albums on CDs.

I guess I'm gonna be the one person who has a different view lol

I never liked this song. It's a weak opening track.I've always said that Stevie should have kept "Let's Get Serious" for himself and made it the opening track on this album.

"Let's Get Serious" was Jermaine Jackson at his best. That whole album has got the sound of what Stevie was doing at the time all over it. 1980 was a hell of a year in R&B.

It's a good song, but not one of my favorites by Stevie. Still, it always makes me happy. smile

That's the album version, on the long version, it doesn't do that. The part where the album version cuts off, it continues on. The song is about 9 minutes. I have it, it's on the maxi single of Don't Drive Drunk. It's a DJ promotional copy, so I don't know if it was released as a commercial single. If you look at the lyrics that were on the Hotter Than July LP (I don't know if they're on the CD), it has the lyrics for the long version.

It's a good song, but not my favorite from HTJ. It's fun though, and a good way to start the album.

time flies.

I heard that on the radio a couple of times in the 1980's, and once about 4 or 5 years ago on a local soul oldies AM station. I don't think that version was released as a single to buy and was only a promo record like Did I Hear You Say was. It was common then to have a different version on the radio promo single.

It wouldn't have fit, unless the album was released as a double LP. That's the same reason several of the songs on Thriller were edited down. The 1st printings of the Thriller album also had the uncut version lyrics to Billie Jean, Lady In My Life, & Thriller on the lyric sheet.
