THE CHOCOLATE CITY SOUL REVUE with James Brown's Funky Divas, The Impressions and Eli "Paperboy" Reed A little self promotion for our upcoming event in Washington DC. I know this is not a site dedicated to Soul music, but there are some Soul music lovers here, so maybe we'll see some of y'all there.
The Chocolate City Soul Revue is the greatest little Soul revue the nation's capitol has seen in the past thirty years. Presented by 4th Cut Productions and Soulpower, our mission is to bring back the legends of Soul and Funk and team them up with new, explosive Soul artists and DJs. The CCSR is an electrifying show honoring the tradition of the great Soul revues of the 1960s and 1970s, showcasing great talent and master musicianship in the most exclusive settings in Washington D.C.
The first Chocolote City Soul Revue on Saturday, June 4th, 2011, at Constitution Hall proudly presents newcomer and Capitol recording artist Eli "Paperboy" Reed and the True Loves, one of the greatest vocal Soul groups of all time The Impressions and the highly anticipated reunion of James Brown's Original Funky Divas Marva Whitney, Vicki Anderson and Martha High, backed by an allstar band featuring members of the original JB's like Fred Thomas, Johnny Griggs and the original funky drummers Clyde Stubblefield and Jab'o Starks.
The revue's host will be James Brown's legenday master of ceremonies Mr. Danny Ray.
Support will be provided by the Soulpower DJ team Mr. Felty & DJ Pari and special guest DJ Perry Louis, resident DJ at the world famous Jazz Cafe in London.
This amazing event will write history on Saturday, June 4th, 2010, 7 p.m. at D.A.R. Constitution Hall, 1776 D. Street NW, Washington D.C. Tickets available very soon through www.ticketmaster.com or 1-800-551-SEAT.
