Hip-O just released a 12 track album called "First Class Love - Rare Tee" which includes songs she recorded at Motown before Wild & Peaceful was released. A few tracks have already appeared on cd before, but most are unheard! They include all but two songs of the unreleased album Motown planned to release after she'd left the company.

The songs have a demo-like quality, but for Teena fans and completists this is still a must!

I don't know how to link to iTunes here, but just look for First Class Love and you'll find it.

I hope this will come out on CD as well!

I found it on cduniverse.com too, mp3 download. I have 3 of these songs on CD already, but 8 are new and 1 is a previously unreleased demo!!!

This is a "birthday preview" of a fuller, 26-track 2-CD physical version coming in June, which will include more a couple more studio tracks, 1983 overdubbed mixes of four songs, and several acoustic demos. Teena would have been 55 this Saturday, March 5.

Also coming in June are expanded reissues of LADY T and IRONS IN THE FIRE.

Each of these projects were discussed with Teena about two years ago but were respectfully set aside for the release of 'Congo Square,' with the idea that we would be working on the catalog ideas this year. I am deeply sorry she is not around to see and hear them.

P.S. Additional note: Three of the last four songs were issued before, while "Love Just Wouldn't Be Right" was on a European 'Greatest Hits' in the mid-1980s but in an '80s remix. The mix included here is more true to the original session, thanks to John Morales, as with other tracks on the set. As noted, fans familiar with the 1983 remix will get that one on the 2-CD edition in June.

yeah, with the Japanese Epic albums remasters coming up as well as possibly the album Lady T had just finished when she passed, we have a lot to look forward too.
