This is my first year watching American Idol since....I can't remember. I watched last week's show and part of tonight's show and my favorites are James Durbin (love his powerful range eek ), Casey Abrams (he is so gut twisting good), Jacob, Naima (unique and worthy) and Pia. I'd like to see James and Casey in the finals because they are dynamite!biggrin

OK, now I'm feeling really old. This week was 'Year They Were Born' songs and seeing that list is depressing.

He has very middle of the road song and artists choices so far, doesn't he? I just call him beardy smiley bloke. Seems quite nice so far but isn't always on key.

All of his performances look exactly the same.

I don't understand what the judges see in this guy.

He is a visual mess and his vocals are NOT very strong.

That Jacob dude is all over the place. Has talent but really needs to get control of his voice. might be a Luther substitute in the future

The two country singers the 15 yr old blonde and the Country dude will get record deals.

Casey is the most talented because he knows how to sing and perform with instrament and he is creative

The asian girl has a nice voice

That pia chick is talented enough for a record deal plus she has her looks

The white dude with the beard wants to be sting so bad

The latina needs to quit sucking up to JLO

The other blonde chick has a nice voice

The black haired dude has a good voice but isnt' always consist

The Autistic Kid has a good rocker type voice but he needs to quit the high pitch screaming thing

The rest doesn't have a shot in hell in winning lol

Still standing by my picks Stefano, Naima, Casey and Haley... although I think Haley and Naima's days are numbered.

Also, someone needs to cast Jacob in a Sylvester bio-pic.

Puh-lease. American Idol is such an easy, popular target. Can't stand the overly earnest people who go on and on about how they're SOOOO above it. The show never claimed to be Masterpiece Theatre and in my opinion is way more entertaining than all the under-produced auto-tuned shit-hop flooding the radio today.

I am going to be honest here. It's not like you are going to see these people again after the show is over. It's not worth it to me.

The same can be said for a zillion one-hit-wonders throughout time. And in today's single-driven iTunes world -- I don't count on anyone sticking around for long. But, again, who's putting a gun to your head to watch?

Or best said in 1996 in on the EXTREME song "Hip Today" the lines were "preoccupied with the latest fashion, Hip Today" Chorus "Hip today, you'll be gone tomorrow"

yawn @ all of them.

This is the worst set of finalists in the history of American Idol.

As much as I hate this show, I will say I'm thankful it introduced me to Tamyra Gray, who is still the best contestant I've seen. Thanks for that, AI!

The previous three weeks were terrible, but today's show was 100x better. Thank You Motown. lol

Now, my picks are Jacob or James for the win.

There's a Pia every season, so no to her.

Stephano is a sharp dude (and looks like Evan Ross), but has a limited voice, so no to him.

I like Paul a lot, but he can't compete with Jacob and James.

And Scotty, while hilarious, is more like a vocal actor to me than a singer, so I don't expect him to last much longer, lol.

The rest, meh.

Can't stand Jacob. His voice reminds me of the "adult women's choir" which translates to geriatric women's choir. All that timber, swooping and shake in his voice... too dramatic. He can't just sing a note without all that shaking. disbelief He sounds like Freddy Jackson live. I saw Freddy Jackson and could hardly recognize his signature song "You are my lady" with all that quaking in his voice.

too bad no one really was watching this show for the talent aspect, as shown in the 30+% rating decline and most likely end of the show

Sorry for those of you who like it, but I can't stand this show. Pick out the best 2 all you like, but they won't make the final. That never happens, because the show isn't designed that way. Every season people protect who they think is in danger while the real talent becomes collateral damage.

Pretty much what Records labels do now . . . .

yeah, the sooner this show goes away the better.

Last night may have been the best overall performances by the entire contestants EVER on Idol.

Jacob is a BEAST.
